Good company going through a lot of changes
Major Account Director (Current Employee) –  Manhattan, NYJanuary 28, 2018
The company was great until purchased by a private equity firm and gutted.

Pros: smart people, flexible bosses, great pay, lots of travel

Cons: micro management, lots of data entry

Quickly declining
Records Analyst (Current Employee) –  Rolling Meadows, ILJanuary 24, 2018
The company originally started much better. After a lot of growth, and several owner changes, it is no longer a good company to work for. Some departments are treated drastically better than others. Nearly everyone outside of management roles is looking for other employment.

Enterprise Account Executive (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJanuary 22, 2018
Careerbuilder.com had the best sales training program that I have experienced. It lead to instant success leading up to a growth path with the company.

Outlook Uncertain
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Norcross, GAJanuary 19, 2018
Careerbuilder was acquired by Apollo last year and the outlook is uncertain at this time due to all of the internal changes. It was a great place to work with great culture and work/life balance. We'll see what happens this year.
Pros
work/life balance
Cons
future outlook unknown

Support Staff (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJanuary 17, 2018
While the organization has been around for several years, it truly lacks basic fundamentals. Processes are not clearly defined which I feel causes them to lose a lot of business.

CareerBuilder is historically known for having an innovative and collaborative work environment. However, the company is changing since the acquisition by private equity.

No longer a fun place to work
SENIOR SUPPORT MANAGER (NORTH AMERICAN SUPPORT) (Former Employee) –  Norcross, GAJanuary 13, 2018
This was by far my favorite position until the recent acquisition. Previous core values and creativity no longer exist. The previous culture that foster growth has been stiflied.

CareerBuilder Overview
Senior Account Executive (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJanuary 3, 2018
A lot of changes going on at CareerBuilder but Senior Management is confident in the new direction of the company. Changes in the technology will help them stay competitive in the job market. Need to stick to their strong points to continue to hang on to talent.

Great company with great culture
Software Engineer (Current Employee) –  Norcross, GADecember 31, 2017
The company has a great culture, and an above-average benefits package. It has recently been bought by Apollo Group, which has somewhat changed the culture, but it is still a great company to work for.

Cut-throat
Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILDecember 30, 2017
It is a fine place to work, but there is quite a bit of office politics. If you are liked , you will thrive. If you are disliked, it is difficult for you to advance regardless of performance.
Pros
Ability to make money
Cons
A lot of cliques

Working at Career Builder was a great experience. I had managers who were willing to help and to help with career advancement. There are tons of opportunity to learn new products and new things.

Once a great culture, now abysmal...
Major Account Executive (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GADecember 10, 2017
Careerbuilder was once a great place to work, but since being acquired by 2 VC firms it has drastically changed. The company has no sense of direction and can't decide what it wants to be, while the competition is seizing most of our budgets monthly.
Pros
Work life balance is good
Cons
Culture changing daily, no sense of direction, no leadership, inferior products

Sourcing Solutions, Program Manager (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GADecember 8, 2017
I worked there for 15 years and was treated extremely well. I got so much experience and was given every opportunity because I deserved it. I earned everything I got. It was a hard company but, I loved it. I was just recently downsized because we were purchased by another company. Me and about 30 other people were let go
Pros
Work from home
Cons
New ownership

Young and fun, good introduction to Sales
Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILNovember 28, 2017
I worked here out of college and it was a fun experience for 22-30 year olds but not so much if you were looking for a stable, long-term career. It was a good introduction to Sales but not necessarily a place to settle in long-term.

Changing
Senior Software Sales Executive (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILNovember 7, 2017
The recent acquisition by new owners still hangs a cloud over the short and long-term future of working here. There's clearly been a change in direction/strategy which has led to lay-offs, perks being taken away and general cost-tightening with regards to travel/entertainment. Time will tell whether these are the biggest changes or over time we become a much different company than we were...
