I was a contractor and let go short of my contract term when there was no more work or future projects to work on. I did enjoy everyone I worked with and was able to learn new skills and work on interesting projects. If you can get in as a full-time employee, it would be good. They have good benefits, good PTO, and even employee stock options.

work from home during covid, and friendly people.

Cons

work availability depends on if they can secure contracts that need your role

Great Place To Work

This company is a great place to work at, great benefits and superb ambience. Also very organized, and excellent opportunities for advancement. Love this company.

Good place to start

I'll start with the good: Most of the employees are friendly and you regularly hear laughing in the halls. Also, they will hire with limited experience or straight out of college. This is good for someone needing to get their foot in the door with a job title. That is it. Now for the bad:The pay is far below average. The benefits are only average, so there's not much to balance it out. It is also a very manager centric organization. The "leaders" will say that you can come to them about anything, but if you ever file a complaint about a manager or lead, it will get swept under the rug and then they will label you as an "problem" employee. Certain "leads" will deliberatley sabotage their employees by telling them to do work a certain way and then take off on their quality score when it is done that way. This leads into the next point. There is no consistency. Managers will tell you to do work a certain way and then when you submit it the way they told you to do it, everything will change and it will get sent back as "incorrect" negatively impacting your "quality" score, which they base all of your bonuses and terms of employment on. There is no room for growth or development. They will hire you stating that they want your experience or knowledge but then tell you that your past expereince doesn't matter (that was a direct quote from a "team leader"). They do not teach you new skills or help you grown in your needed skils. Despite their lip service, employees are just an unimportant number. If you aren't a manager, your expereince, your education, and -

Below average pay, poor management, too much emphasis on "quality" without a consistent definition of what "quality" is.

Like a working for a well-organized family

Carley has a great culture (Halloween Lunches & Skits, Holiday Luncheon, Birthday Celebrations, Chocolate on Valentine's Day & Easter, monthly all-hands meetings and so much more. Gifts Cards for all Employees on Birthday's, for buying a home, graduation, getting married, Christmas, Anniversaries, mother /fathers day. Not to mention Employee Referral Bonus, Tuition Reimbursement, etc. People are great and truly care about each other. Some people leave due to salary but most come back for the Culture. Con -Carley pays the middle of the road. Not the lowest but not the highest. Pros- Carley does not terminate at the end of contracts. They reassigned employees to new contracts before seeking outside hires.

Great Culture / Like working with Family

So much fun! Parties, gift cards for Birthdays / Anniversaries / Mothers Day / Referrals. Management from the President down really cares and believe it or not, HR actually is helpful. Wow! They do have a very critical QA process. Sometimes it can feel like micro-managing but after a while, you learn what they are looking for and can be proud of the work product.

Ok place to work

There's a lot of turnover there unless you're in the core group of people who've been here forever. Training is very poor with managers often giving you work to complete without telling you how things are usually done at Carley and then after the fact explaining how your work should be done the "Carley"aka their way. They say you have flex time, but it's not really. Micro-management is strong at Carley depending on who you work for. This means that unless there's a deadline people often act busy when they're not and leave work as soon as they can. Managers there definitely don't understand that a team is only as strong as it's weakest link. Many people see how shallow management is there and only stay till they find a better job salary or environment wise. It could be a great company if there was greater transparency and equity with policy and procedures no matter who the manager was, but managers are allowed to run teams however they want which might be effective in the short term, but not for the long term.

Pros

You can take a working lunch and only stay 8 hours vs. 8.5 or 9 hours, their benefits are ok if you purchase a few extra options

Cons

Lack of investment in their workers, they don't really care about creating a positive work environment, however they do try to by throwing nice lunches for the holidays.

Solid workplace

Nice place to work at, people are friendly and it's a relaxed work environment. There are moments of crunch time when everybody has to step up their efforts but overall a good place for work.

Some OSHA regulations are not constantly enforced when inspectors are not around.

Creativity is kept within clearly defined guidelines and standards. Most content is developed with direct client input, regardless of adhering to sound instructional design principles.

WARNING to all that apply

So they try to mask a contract job as "full time" with an expiration date to save money. They will take any project as long as they get paid then kick you out the door. I applied for a DB Architect/Admin job and was told it was for 18 months only but was "full time". They do not do hourly and weren't willing to budge on salary. DO NOT even bother to apply here unless you need a job.

Does not value talent. Only values their bottom line. Be prepared to get paid below average for your work and staying late because of poor management.

good job but they will lay you off

This is a good company but you will be on a rotation of when they have projs and when they dont. They will just lay off a team of 20 people when they promised they would ALWAY have work.

Great place to gain experience with simulation contracts

I have gained valuable experience here with simulation contracts. This position falls in line with a typical work week. The hardest part of the job is wondering what work lies ahead but is a very enjoyable job as the people working there are awesome!

Horrible experience

Management and COO were terrible. Do not work here unless desperate for a job. This company is poorly run with terrible benifets. They will bait and switch you and change your job function after you start and move 500 miles.

Productive and Genial

I really enjoy working here. Facility is amazing and newly built. The life/work balance is preserved. We work hard and solve problems but take the time to celebrate Holidays and Families and Life Events. Our work product makes me proud.

A great company to work for.

Daily activities include challenging yet attainable goals. I leanred how to use AIM II, LOM, Evolution, and conduct ADDIE activities for Navy customers. Co-workers are helpful and supportive.
