Something to hold you over until you find the job you really want. Supervisors are a joke. Customers are super rude. Promised one free cruise a day. Never happened.
Personal Vacation Planner in Miami, FL

Carnival has *great* benefits and some great people. PVPs are able to 100% from home too, which is a nice perk. Personal Vacation Planners (PVPs) receive a small base salary, then commission based on sales - any cancellations they have. Some people can be *very successful* - most aren’t. It takes time to build up a client list of guests who know you and will choose to book their next vacation with you, rather than online, through the 800# or a Travel Agent. Most guests don’t call knowing exactly what they want and ready to make a deposit - it often takes multiple calls and your time. And if - after all that - the guest decides to book through a different booking channel - anything or anyone besides *you* - you make zero commission. Zero - no matter how long you’ve worked with them, how much time you’ve spent. If they call on a Sunday while you’re at church, so they decide to go online - you get nothing. If you are sick - in the hospital! - and your voicemail says you’re out sick, and gives them an alternate person to call (your “Buddy Booker”) but they just talk to a random person at Carnival at the 800# - you get nothing. The list goes on and on. Standard hours may be 40 hours/week but you honestly can’t work that and make a decent living as a PVP. If you understand that, and if you are willing to put in the time (it takes at least 6 months to a year of hard work and LOTS of calls before you can start to see many repeat guests or referrals), it can be decent money, great benefits, some good staff and (mostly) really great guests that you get to work with.

Very stressful. Training insufficient with work requirements. Extended wait times to get help from support. Most times you have to search for ways to resolve issues on your own.
