Great for beginner transcriptionists

Indeed Featured review

Their site was easy to navigate. I like their comprehensive style guide. Sadly, there wasn't enough work to go around and the pay for individual tasks was tiny. Contracting for sites like Casting Words is worthwhile if you can bounce back and forth between several of them while maintaining high speed and accuracy in order to make it profitable.

Pros

Flexiable schedule

Cons

Not enough work, low pay

Productive and fun place to work with

Casting words is a very good worksite to work at. It pays well and on time. I cannot complain about working there but I just wanted something permanent to work for.

Pros

Job available

Cons

Less pay rate

You get paid literally pennies.

You start off getting paid 7 cents per job, that isn't even min wage and you're locked into it until someone triple checks your work. You can refresh for hours just to do 30 cents of editing work.

Good for a little extra pocket change.

It's not something I'd recommend to do full time but if you have some hours to kill and need a few bucks this could be what you're looking for. You're your own boss and can do it on your own time.

Decent job

The best part about the job is that you can work from home. Decent pay but not many tasks available. Tasks are not too difficult but some days there is not any work available.

the place is productive and okay to work at.

It's quite difficult for newbies to get transcription jobs because every other jobs is not in their rank. This makes it harder for them to get more badges.

No expectations

Working for CastingWords is good for a little bit of pocket money. It takes patience to build your experience with transcribing. There's not always work, but sometimes there is tons of it.

Interesting, good transcription experience

Great transcription experience for my resume, and for future jobs. Not great in terms of pay, but it’s an entry level job with no interview. Really, what can I expect?

Pros

Self managed, flexible, easy pace, hours, etc

Cons

Pay, poor feedback scheme, no interview, slow pay increase

Great for small cash amounts

Its a great company for beginners, and it's okay if you're looking to make like 3 dollars a job if you're lucky. 75 % of the audio I transcribed was complete garbage and you could not hear a single word. The other audio files are too soft and again you cannot make out a single word that they say. I suggest if you want to go into transcription you take a Udemy course they are affordable and very easily explained, and then try for the companies that pay you more. I can't take a company seriously who pays such insulting rates

Pros

work at home

Cons

barely any pay

Perfect for a stay-at-home mom

Great work environment for an at-home job. Flexible schedule, can work as much or as little as you want, if work is available. I love working for this company but it pays very low and is meant more to supplement income, not be a primary source of income.

Pros

Relaxed pace, you make your own schedule.

Cons

Low pay

CastingWords

This is a great experience builder for general transcription. They don’t have much in the way of medical transcripts. You get paid for approved transcripts only.

Pros

Remote, set your own schedule, choose the files you want to transcribe, gain experience

Cons

Not always available work
