It's a stepping stone....not a place to retire from
Social Worker III (Current Employee) –  Niagara Falls, NYOctober 15, 2018
It is a great place regarding time off, holiday time off, and medical appointments. Lots of religious holidays observed. Staff in the office very supportive. However, program funding cuts due to recent sexual abuse scandals and poor management at headquarters have made it impossible to continue working as they make unrealistic demands and blame employees for loss of funding. There is no interoffice collaboration and there is always an "us vs. them" mentality. Working conditions are less than ideal as the location is causing health problems.
Pros
Free time off for medical appointments (not taken from PTO), flexibility, work/life balance
Cons
upper management only cares for money, doesn't know what offices are like, unsafe working environments, low salary (unable to meet cost of living)

For people that are not suppose to judge. They do, they will judge everything about you. They judge the way you look, what you wear and the color of your skin. Even though they don’t own up to it

Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Niagara Falls, NYMarch 28, 2018
This is a large agency with many locations and diverse programs, which has its pros and cons. Each site is unique and has its own culture. Because the agency is so large, there are so many opportunities for advancement. There is a strong focus on staff development and helping employees meet their career goals. The agency provides trainings, supervision for licensure, and continuing education credits. Staff are full-time at 35 hours with lots of holidays and time off, and a work-life balance is strongly encouraged. Hourly pay is competitive for the area, but because of the 35-hour work week, it's less than what others might pay annually. The work we get to do is so rewarding, and employees stay here because they can see the results of their hard work in the lives of their clients. Management values the diversity of employees and clients, and it's easy to feel welcomed by staff. They tend to hire compassionate and supportive employees. The people who work here make the job enjoyable, especially on days when the work is challenging. Many of my coworkers feel like family to me, and I'm so grateful for the community I've found in them.
Pros
staff support, opportunities for advancement and career growth, fun employees and management
Cons
large agency, some positions have a lot of travel

Bad Management in Niagara Falls office.
Program Secretary (Former Employee) –  Niagara Falls, NYMarch 13, 2018
When I work there it was the worst experience. The Office Manager is really rude. She talks about other employees to other co workers trying to make them go against each other. You can never be sick or try to call in or request time off because the Office Manager wont approve if it means she has to cover and there is never no coverage. Part time employees are only there so the Office Manager doesn't have to work evening hours. It's always going to be a high turn over in the Niagara Falls Office until they change the Office Manager. They are very clicky in the office.
