No complaints at all. Great place to work and learn your career. They have me an opportunity to learn and go to school. They offer tuition reimbursement.

Horrid
Laborer (Former Employee) –  Long Island, NYSeptember 12, 2018
Pretty much if you wanna be direct care or maintenance it don't matter, no room to advance, no training, added tasks outside your comfort zone that you won't be compensated for, sick and vaca time you will ultimately lose because you will be forced to work so often you won't have time and they won't pay if you leave quit or fired, if you go against upper management or there clique inner circle of friends (all high School chums) you will find yourself suspended without pay indefinitely pending a review from hr who is too busy to meet with you or answer your calls, once completed you will be humiliated, overall terrible place to work, sports cars at main office , lousy living conditions for the population, bug infestations, antiquated buildings and equipment , hazards, do not apply ever warn everyone

Critical Care Nurse (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 28, 2018
Good place to work. Nurses have lot of autonomy .the registered nurse must be able to think and work independently and know when to report or call the doctor.

Care Manager (Former Employee) –  Smithtown, NYMarch 23, 2018
Nearly every employee in every department feels unappreciated and has daily high level of stress. Age discrimination rampant. No attention to employee work environment or job satisfaction. Lacked basic office functioning essentials. Good place to apply for a professional first job and they are always hiring because of job vacancies.

Interface Specialist (Contract Project) (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 6, 2018
Mostly good group of folks but communication between teams is a constant struggle and the projects suffer as a result.
Also, process in place (change control, etc) is not followed as strictly as it should be.

Follow-up Representative (Former Employee) –  Melville, NYFebruary 3, 2018
The senior leadership in Melville is clueless. It is like a sorority. Totally unprofessional, incapable, don’t care about the employees. HR is useless. They have the wrong people in charge. They have no clue what they are doing. 7 changes in less than 2 years. Time to clean house and get smart, capable and kind senior leadership ship. It is a disgrace that a catholic organization is run by such nasty women. Get them out!!

Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) –  Rockville Centre, NYFebruary 2, 2018
STAY AWAY. This place is an absolutely horrible place to work at. The management team does not care about the workers and the HR department is just as bad. I was physically and verbally abused by coworkers and managers and received no care from the workplace. This place is like highschool: FULL OF DRAMA. Everyone acts like children and they are very immature. They will not care about you. Not worth the pay. Please go somewhere else.

Stressful workplace
Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) –  Port Jefferson, NYJanuary 31, 2018
Maryhaven is a great organization- in theory. A typical day includes helping individuals, and I learned a lot about the social stigma of developmental disability. However, management was poor and we were consistently understaffed. Workplace culture is a bit strange; there are people that really enjoy their jobs, and people that despise it and make it miserable for everyone else. The hardest part of the job is not negotiating with or prompting individuals, but dealing with coworkers. At the end of the day though, it was nice to know that I had made my individual's day happier.
Pros
Free lunches, rewarding, breaks, good benefits
Cons
understaffed, stressful environment, chance of injury

Unit Clerk (Former Employee) –  West Islip, NYJanuary 25, 2018
I only had the pleasure of working at Good Samaritan Hospital for a little over a year but I loved every minute of it! My coworkers were so much fun to work with! All different ages and ethnicities made for a fun and Intersting place to work. I’ve learned so much and I’ve even gained a few friendships.
