Aircraft Maintenance Technician in George Town
on November 4, 2018
There's a fleet of 4 aircraft so some days are busy if we have an aircraft in the hanger for a maintenance check and other days not so much. Working with this company has thought me to work independently with minimal supervision to carry out all tasks required of me, this being my first maintenance job since I've received my A&P licenses and has encouraged me to be a part of a team. Management could use some improvement. They lack communication skills, and seem to be caught up in some vision they have which they tend not to share with anyone but amongst themselves. Its a waste of time asking about training of any sort because they can never give you a straight answer, a simple 'yes or no' seems impossible for them. Its a laid back environment slow paced company, to slow paced for me at times. The maintenance staff have their disagreements here and there, who doesn't, at the end of the day we look out for each other.

- A Typical day at work - the day started at 7:00 am -11:00am then back at 5:45 pm - 9:45 pm if the flight was not late, most of the time it was.- What you learned - Learnt my job- Management - Never cared about their staff. Did not recognize or appreciate staff. - Workplace culture - Very unpleasant people to work with, cut throat - The hardest part of the job - the long hours like from 5:45 pm until 3:00am, then back at 7:00 am- The most enjoyable part of the job - the passengers, loved and enjoyed the customer interaction, loved the job itself. Loved that no day was the same. Loved to go above and beyond to ensure that the passengers received the best possible experience as they embarked on their vacation. Ensured that their first impression of the airline left a lifetime memory.

A very small airline that closed its office in Miami. Fun place with fun exiting people offering a chance to travel to the islands.
