Technician (Current Employee) –  Wilmington, MAAugust 13, 2018
This place only cares about money. The management department only looks out for each other and let's everyone else sink. The worst managers just keep getting promoted while hard workers can't get promoted so everyone leaves .

I enjoy my job and the work atmosphere. Charles River has gone above and beyond in providing concern and understanding of my situation since being hired. I have had some unexpected health crisis's come upon me one right after the other. Charles River aides in what I need to do to get better and are very supportive.

Poor management and overworked
Research Technician II (Current Employee) –  Morrisville, NCJuly 6, 2018
We are constantly understaffed at Charles River leading to insanely long workdays. The shift is 6:00-2:30 but I rarely find myself leaving before 4:00. The management is aweful. They do not care about employees and would never offer help to the overworked employees. They only care about the bottom line and keeping costs low.
The pay is not equal among employees. They do not care about giving pay increases or promotions unless you threatened to leave.
Terrible work environment and terrible work/life balance. The co-workers are the only positive for this job.
Pros
Good co-workers
Cons
Long hours, no breaks, poor management, low pay

In-Life (Current Employee) –  Horsham, PAJune 25, 2018
This place is going down into the dumps. Both in-life and necropsy departments are overworked and underpaid. People are leaving left and right because of how dissatisfied they are with the company. No one is taking initiative to save this sinking ship. Be warned!!!!

Mismanaged, Clueless, and Overworked
Technician 1 (Current Employee) –  Stone Ridge, NYJune 17, 2018
There is constantly something wrong here! A lot of the people here have been working here for years, which leads to favoritism and slacking off; this causes a lot of the work to be pushed onto new hires, leading us to be overworked. This place is understaffed as well, meaning there's more work and not enough people but you get in trouble if you get even a minute of overtime. Not a lot of people use their brains either, which is to be expected from a job that doesn;t require more than a high school diploma.

Company makes a dollar, you make a dime (if that)
Scientific Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Reno, NVMay 19, 2018
Charles River refuses to hire more individuals to get the job done right. Employees do the work of at least 2, and get underpaid for 1. You will always be asked to do more than expected, very consistently. This lead to job burnout quickly, and very little compensation for hard workers who would like to advance. You move up in the company by who you know, not how well you perform.

job security
Cons
overworked

Formulations Technician I (Current Employee) –  Spencerville, OHMay 15, 2018
CRL-Spencerville offers a nice pay for the area as well as a fun work environment. But the fun ends fast when bosses are pressuring for impossible work. Overtime is good, but it became my life.
