Beware
Chemical Operator (Former Employee) –  Berkeley Heights, NJMay 22, 2019
Chemtrade in Berkeley Heights is a real funny place. Management sucks point blank a lot of fraternizing and blatant favoritism.
The senior operators are threatened by anybody who poses a real threat to them they will get you out the door one way or another.
Closing note because management lies so much to their employers to cover themselves they always believe that the employee is dishonest.

low morale, management lies to get workers fired, incident investigations are one sided, against the hourly personnell, no support from management
A Operator (Former Employee) –  Richmond, CAOctober 14, 2018
Caustic environment, management makes up incidents against workers, the union and HR against the worker, no union representation, every man for himself, I loved my work , but the new management is the problem here, they fired all the shop personell and hire out with contractor to do all their maintenance. They are very good at terminating workers without remorse but can not hire anybody.
Cons
New management, toxic envoirnment!

Blame culture, management talks from both sides of their mouths
Maintenance (Former Employee) –  Richmond, CAOctober 9, 2018
The management at this company is totally disconnected from the hourly "people". The lack of respect to hourly "people" is so in your face, examples would be like down talking to you, blaming, backstabbing, and elitist behavior. They talk safety first, but really that is all it is, talk, when issues of production arise. The new maitenance management has brought very little of their own to improve the overall integrity of the plant, instead they rather ride the guys there who are knowledgeable and quickly turnaround and blame them when it suits them. Here is a work place where asskissing, works very well.
Pros
Weekday hours
Cons
Disconnected management, lack of training.

Chemtrade is challenging
ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES SUPERVISOR (Former Employee) –  Augusta, GASeptember 26, 2018
Chemtrade was a challenging place to work. It was a growing, changing company which was still adjusting to becoming a large company. A restructuring was taking place and that did create some management overlap.
Pros
Local management was easy to work with.
Cons
Sometimes had to provide the same information to too many persons in different formats.

It once was a great company... not now
blank for anonymity & changing employment dates (Current Employee) –  Tulsa, OKJune 27, 2018
Over the last few years there has been a major change in how this company is ran. This company has lost many key members of not only upper management, but also middle management. (They seem to not be able to get out of the door fast enough.) Needless to say, the loss of key personnel at the management level has had a major impact all the way down. It seems HR is scrambling to replace everyone that has left (turnover is above 50%) and they are replacing them with anyone willing to work in a high stress job, regardless of fit. There is little to no training, and due to this, new employees are set up to fail. When you fail at Chemtrade, they beat you down and there is no one to help you up. There is no mentorship, only blame. The newbies are now leaving in record time. It is a vicious cycle that I hope Chemtrade understands is not sustainable.
Pros
good 401K package
Cons
-little to no training-blame environment-HIGH stress- constant changing expectations

Thank you for sharing your experience! We are glad you enjoyed working at Chemtrade. Chemtrade fosters a diverse team-focused work environment where everyone supports each other. We sympathize that sometimes it hard to leave your team and go on vacation! One of the best practices when taking a time off is to make sure you give an appropriate notice to your manager and identify a contact person in case of emergency while you are away. After that, the only thing you have to do is to enjoy your vacation! :)

A very Un-Responsible Care facility after new owners of 2015.
Operations Manager (Former Employee) –  Richmond, CAJuly 18, 2017
This company talks a lot of safety and responsible care, but behind closed doors they are a bunch of backstabbing career oriented individuals that do not stand up nor enforce their own policies on their upper salaried staff members.for Safety,

Prior to 2015, General Chemical Corp. at least had integrity in the light of their safety & EHS position.

Apears to be a great place to work.
Senior Cost Analyst (Former Employee) –  Parsippany, NJJuly 18, 2017
Constantly concerned about job security. Company expansion is based on acquisition. However, the company culture is focused on the Canadian culture and standards. The company lacks the flexibility to consider the unique skill sets of acquired companies and treats the acquired employees as disposable.
Pros
Expanding company.
Cons
Regid.
