Not a good place to work
Teacher (Former Employee) –  Bloomington, ILNovember 27, 2018
I hated working here, I would dread going to work each day, the employees here were so unprofessional and acted like middle school girls. There was so much drama and bad talking between them, the management clearly had favorites and let those do what ever they wanted. The people there do not care about the kids, they do the bare minimum to even take care of them. They will leave the room to socialize, leaving the other employees in the room over ratio. I would never trust these women with my child, they would not be taken care for and come back with worse behaviors. The workers do not discipline well at all are overall just not taking care of the children anywhere close to how they should. The kids are great, but the work environment and how I was treated was a joke.
Pros
Great kids
Cons
Horrible work environment

The management team at this location is very passive aggressive and it's nearly possible to get through to them. This behavior causes low employee moral.

Stressful Child Care Position
Preschool Teacher (Current Employee) –  Malvern, PANovember 6, 2018
Working at Chesterbrook Academy is a unique learning experience. A typical day is very hectic as there is often not enough staff working in the building. While management can be understanding when it comes to personal issues it often feels as though they do not care about their staff or the children under their care. It is not uncommon to be asked to come into work when you are extremely ill. The hardest part of the job is feeling undervalued and overworked. The best part of this job is the children and the families.

Order, inventory control, serve meals, plan menu. It is not a hard job at all. Most of the people are cool, no advancement. Laid back planning a menu following a budget and meeting all the families
Pros
Meeting new people
Cons
No pay raises or benefits

Teacher - Pre-Kindergarten (Former Employee) –  Naperville, ILOctober 14, 2018
I liked the people that I worked with, the teachers, staff, and admins were great. BUT I did everything a teacher (K-6) does and got paid like I worked at McDonald's.
Pros
People
Cons
Expected to do Parent/Teacher conferences, report cards, lesson plans, curriculum planning, etc. Not compensated for this level of work

Early Childhood Education Company
Employee (Current Employee) –  United StatesOctober 9, 2018
Chesterbrook Academy is a typical Early Childhood Education Company that strives to be better than the rest but has to deal with growth and decline like the rest.

ASSISTANT TEACHER/AFTER SCHOOL LEAD (Former Employee) –  Port Saint Lucie, FL 34987October 8, 2018
Chesterbrook provided a stable working environment and competitive salaries for child care workers. For a childcare facility, this one provided a positive working environment.

It was alright
Assistant Preschool Teacher (Current Employee) –  Bloomington, ILSeptember 28, 2018
Chesterbrook is alright to work for. The coworkers are mostly great and supportive, the management tries but I feel that it could be better. The kids are wonderful but can be a handful with not enough staff that SHOULD be in the classrooms to assist.
Pros
Friendly coworkers
Cons
Management is all over the place

Not a good place to work
Teacher Assistant (Former Employee) –  Fairfax, VASeptember 22, 2018
There are certain rules put in place for the care of children and the rules were not followed.
Best part of the job was the children and my co-workers.
Worst part was lack of management communication with staff, awful benefits, and short staffed.

Not worth it
Preschool Teacher (Current Employee) –  Bloomington, ILSeptember 21, 2018
This company is not worth the time. Corporate looks out for themselves, with no regards for employees. We are given more work than we are given time to do, while we are not compensated for all of the extra expectations. Theres not much room for advancement, and even if you get to advance the almost non-existent pay raise wouldn't be worth it.
Pros
Children, families, co-workers
Cons
Low pay, corporate doesnt care

I really love the facilities and my leadership. All the staff works together to make a wonderful environment. My only complaint as of now is that there are not enough holidays for workers.

It’s not worth it
Lead Teacher (Former Employee) –  Lancaster, PASeptember 6, 2018
When I first started Chesterbrook over 5 years ago I loved working at Chesterbrook. The principal treated her employees well and it was a great group dynamic. The kids were wonderful (and they still are) and the curriculum was strong. Over the course of 5 years Chesterbrook has gone down hill tremendously. This past year the turn over rate for staff and principals are high. The school is run down with no upkeep. They slap a bandaid on a problem and call it fixed, until the next time when it’s worse. The office staff are new and don’t know what they are doing. The curriculum is still strong and the kids and families are wonderful. Overall, it’s sad to see such a big once thriving school turn into a place that’s not a positive environment.
Pros
Families, good curriculum
Cons
Low pay, poor benefits, poor dynamic of facility, not a positive environment, gossip

Not a Great Place to work
Preschool Teacher (Former Employee) –  Columbia, SCAugust 28, 2018
Chesterbrook Academy was a well known preschool in the area. There in no structure, consistency, the food preparation was awful, milk was left out for hours and placed back in fridge for next day, principal was awful very rude definitely needs a class on proper communication. You could never get days off. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

Infant Teacher (Former Employee) –  Malvern, PAAugust 24, 2018
if you love kids then I suggest working at a daycare just not Chesterbrook Academy in Malvern. Coworkers are very two faced and will lie their way to the top. The parents can also be very rude to the staff members.
Pros
only pro is you get to work with children
Cons
you do not get pto until 1 year after start date, only 6 hours sick time after 6 months of being there

They set teachers up for failure. They allowed an abusive mean teacher to work with toddlers. I got injured on the job and was denied workers compensation.

Overworked, underpaid
Assistant Teacher (Current Employee) –  PennsylvaniaAugust 21, 2018
Chesterbrook is an amazing school to send your kids to but not such an amazing place to work. With the amount being charged in tuition they should pay the teachers significantly more. They do all the hard work. They shape the minds of these kids, they do more for the company than anyone. Without the hard working, dedicated teachers the schools wouldn't exist. The turn around rate is astonishing. That's because the pay is so little that people literally can't get by on it. If they focused less on making sure every room was full to capacity and more on the fact that their teachers need to pay bills they might have people work there for longer periods of time. It's a money hungry company for sure. The big wigs make out great while the staff is definitely overworked and highly underpaid. They are always adding things to do on top of the heavy load the teachers already have. I would not recommend working for Chesterbrook unless it's just extra money in your pocket.
Pros
Coworkers
Cons
Low pay. Raises are just a few cents once a year. Only 3 sick days all year.

Lead Pre-K Teacher (Former Employee) –  Chadds Ford, PAAugust 15, 2018
Staying at a job for three years describes in itself how wonderful of a job it was. It was very stressful, but any job working with parents and children always are. The other staff members were always helpful and nice and always there for advice. Everyone worked hard to achieve the best environment for the students.

Management wasn't always there for employers, couldn't go to them if had any issues. The staff I worked with made the days short and fun. The children and parents were great.
