Work & Life Balance

Reviews

Fulfillment Associate in Ocala, FL

Pros and cons
The best part about the job is the time off. You start off with 60 hours unpaid time off which is very convenient. The benefits are also really good and very affordable. There are also several shifts so you can find what works best for you. Outside of that, it depends on you. You can clearly tell which departments people don’t wanna work because there are always new orange vests coming in. It takes 30 days before you can apply for a shift change but they’re hiring so many people right now that you can’t get trained in a new area. My biggest complaint is how they handle injuries. I hurt myself on the job, used a bunch of my uto to rest, and when I came back they expected me to go right back on the line. When I said I wouldn’t, it was sweeping duty for me until they could “train me in something else.” There are certainly worst stories than mine, but that was enough to convince me. Overall, it’s a consistent place to work. You’re gonna go in every day, work hard and get paid pretty well. Everybody makes the same from the people who are slinging boxes all day to the people who put the paper in the box. It’s a big company, so you’re just a number; however, the managers were great and definitely made you feel like they cared. It’s not for me, but I can see how people can stay here for years

Management doesnt know what theyre doing most of the time. The work culture is childish, we were encouraged to rat each other out to management over minor accidents.

Great place to get experience, some creepy coworkers who made weird comments, for the most part great coworkers and leads, there was one manager who was point happy with everyone

The only thing I enjoyed were my breaks. They have some good options for snacks and drinks and a free coffee machine is in the room as well. The bells to signal breaks will haunt me forever, but the breaks themselves were nice.

The work isn’t hard once you get the hang of it but there are things that are constantly changing and it can be hard to keep up with. The call volume within employees isn’t consistent at all and I find that completely unfair. Sometimes I get back to back calls and can’t keep up yet there are other employees who get zero calls for hours. Training also isn’t the best, most of the stuff I learned in training is different from once I got out of training. Your lead changes quite often and I hate that. I really liked my lead I had for a couple of months and then it changed. It’s a great company and I will always recommend people to buy from chewy and it’s not even necessarily a bad place to work, but it can be exhausting if you have a high call volume.
