I worked for Chick-Fil-A for over 6 years and could not have asked for a better beginners job. The employees and management team is outstanding. Unfortunately, the benefits are very limited and almost non-existent. Likewise, pay is great for High School and maybe college; but not enough to support a growing family.
A typical day at work depends on the workers position and location. Mall employees will experience more versatility, where as Free standing location employees will probably learn one specific job. Moving into management is dependent on personal characteristics and self management. If a worker is able to make decisions and carry out those decisions while keeping the customer first, they may advance quickly. If the employee is only there for their own benefit (paycheck) and shows a rebellious attitude, advancement will be impossible.
I was able to advance into the Store Manager position. Unfortunately, the stress and un-accounted hours were not worth the hassle for the pay. I was even told that my pay rate was stretching the budget. Since then, I have moved into construction and make much more for less than half the headache. However, for all that the management team does and with such little pay they are amazing to work with. You couldn't ask for a better boss.
The hardest part of the job was leaving your emotions at the door. You MUST smile and have a positive attitude, all day. No matter the citation at home, your physical health, or possible issues with fellow employees; everything negative is left at the door.
The most Enjoyable part of the job was working with such a great team. Most everyone was willing to help and assist when needed. Training was always available in a manner that was simple and easy to follow.
In conclusion, there are a lot of benefits to working with Chick-Fil-A; but only for a beginner job.
