This job was like being in high school all over again.
Lots of favoritism, and gossip between employees and managers. Even if your great at your job, if you don’t kiss up to the upset management they won’t promote you and most likely will fire you despite your worth to the company.

Great place to work for the most part
Treats employees very well with assorted celebrations scattered throughout the year (super bowl, summer, holiday season), very forward thinking on diversity issues.

Advancement can be very challenging; it can be very political and often it's the same people being promoted multiple times while others are overlooked.

Your experience with culture will be made or broken by whomever your manager is, as company initiatives and opportunities are not necessarily applied evenly across departments.

Internship program is great!
I was an intern for Choice Hotels International in the summer of 2017 and it was an amazing experience. Interns are treated like full time employees and are seen as people who have the potential to provide something to the company, not just people joining for the summer. Every week, interns are taken to a Talk Shop program set up by executives from different departments of the community where we learn what that department does for the company. This is a great way to learn about the hospitality industry. Internships are paid, so it becomes a really good resume builder. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to be in the hospitality industry!

Culture problems
Toxic culture starting in the c-suite. Fear based leadership by an exec team that have free reign to do as they please with no repercussions. Massive turnover, no room for advancement, no autonomy to make decisions and do your job. Would not recommend.
Pros
Not all that demanding
Cons
Horrible Executive team, toxic culture

Great Company to work for at that time.
This was one of my first franchise sales jobs it paid well right out of college. Choice Hotels offered me the opportunity to grow as a professional sales person, in a fast paced franchise territorial sales position.
Pros

Stressful environment
A typical day is full of meaningless meeting with micro management and the workplace culture is stressful. The hardest part of my job is making time to work in the office. We are reduced to working on weekends for lack of office time for working.
Pros
work from home
Cons
terrible healthcare

Decent pace to work short-term
Decent short term opportunity, but didn't pay enough and little room for advancement. Could also benefit from more diversity and inclusion in leadership roles.

Not much say except they did have a lot of social entertainment (picnics, outings etc.)
I was impressed when I first got there, but later upon being hired, I notice the pettiness of management. Communication was very poor and ultimately left the company

Good entry level stepping stone
This company hires a large number of interns and college graduates. That translates to low pay and an eternal turnover mill. Good place to start, but when it's time to go...it's time to go.
Pros
Work remote
Cons
Age discrimination

A great place to start out!
I ended up with a truly amazing boss at Choice. I greatly appreciated the amount of autonomy I received and the coaching both I and my boss got from the company, which is trying very hard to develop internal leaders.
Pros
Inclusive, Friendly, Fun Work, Good Coaching
Cons
Too Much Work

Great company culture
Great company culture, internal movement is highly valued, you are given a lot of trust and ability to implement change early on in your career. Choice hires great people who are always open to letting you try new things, explore ideas. Management values feedback.
Cons
Lack of middle management opportunity/ability to grow within your role

Overall a good company to work for
While I wouldn't recommend this company to young professionals who are looking to advance quickly in their careers, Choice Hotels is a good work culture for those in a more stable life stage and looking for a good work-life balance.
Pros
Work-life Balance
Cons
Lack of Career Progression/Compensation

Good place to work, but not much advancement
It's a solid company, with somewhat conservative management. Workplace culture is fairly relaxed, with good work/life balance. However jobs tend to be somewhat siloed, with not much room for career advancement.
Pros
Great location, pleasant office environment
Cons
No much room to move up in the company

Fun, but lack of growth
Culture is a huge plus. Fun, active atmosphere. Very little room to grow. Teams are small, like to hire managers/senior level from the outside. No pay structure.
