Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Pembroke Pines, FLJune 14, 2018
a typical day at work is usually slow except on weekends like all businesses, you work on your own and go to manager IF you need it. they're unwilling to work with you if things come up unexpectedly and if youre a student forget it. theyre gonna tell you city furniture is more important. management, once they want to get rid of you they will watch like hawks and make sure you always get written up so you have to be careful not to be on anyones bad side. the money is good but you have to work for it. bonuses and rewards are awesome but again, it reflects your work. if you come to work, make your money and just fulfill their hours required, you will be fine and do well. the goal to working in this place is to stay under the radar when it comes to managers.

Community Relations and Giving Manager (Former Employee) –  Tamarac, FLJune 5, 2018
The company portrays an image they don't truly live. They promote they family members and close friends. They is very little diversity is the management. The HR team doesn't follow it's own procedures. Leaders do what they want with no consequences.
Cons
Only promote family members and friends

Worst company to work for ever
Marketing (Former Employee) –  Tamarac, FLMay 2, 2018
Working for this company would have to ultimately be the worst experience of my working career and I can say I’ve never felt that way before at any other job. At the corporate level everyone is cut throat and so catty including HR. Education level is quite low because the behavior I’ve witnessed in the time I was there was unbelievable. Constant trash talking with clicks. No real work gets done. Happy I left. If you want a long lasting career don’t work for this company.

The customers were only looking ninety percent of the time.. Not much of a chance to really make money because the line up was long.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  West Palm Beach, FLApril 10, 2018
The customers were only looking ninety percent of the time.. Not much of a chance to really make money because the line up was long. Too many reps for the small amount of customers walking into the store.

Warehouse with poor management
Receiving Associate (Former Employee) –  Tamarac, FLApril 1, 2018
Hostile environment with felons and management picks favorites. Watch out if you are going to work here. Employees will lie to the management to get you in trouble if they feel you work better than them. Also if you are new get ready to have the worst teammate and the worst trucks.

Great Company/Still Growing/Needs Help with Middle Management
Assistant Showroom Manager (Current Employee) –  Fort Myers, FLFebruary 13, 2018
Corporate is working on work life balance for associates, and it truly is doing a great job in satisfying associates; however, managers are worked to the bone and have high pressure for upper management to ensure that targets are being met. This causes managers to work extra hours and not get compensated for the time they are investing in managerial duties. Managers are paid on commission and are encouraged to out sale associates--however, there is a clear conflict of interest when you as a manager need to not only train and support the staff, but also compete directly against them to earn a living.
Pros
Great Environment
Cons
New compensation structure for management

Professional vs Politics
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Tamarac, FLFebruary 6, 2018
It is a constant battle of professionalism and politics, I think more than anything else here, sort of unbearable if you feel you do not fit in at any point you will not last or you will struggle to remain, it is a competitive atmosphere all around sales, politics, employees and managers. The sales are present if you apply yourself, the training is great, the discounts are reasonable.
Pros
Great training and sales opportunity during peak
Cons
Poor culture due to competitive nature and politics, too many slow months, needs better management

Stressful, unprofessional & poor management
Sales (Former Employee) –  Miami, FLFebruary 2, 2018
If your putting money in your managers and general managers pocket you can say your job is safe at city furniture. If you even slip and struggle gooooodluck. Stressful Enviroment, long hours of work and small compensation for it. pays commission or salery not both. Poor management, new rules being enforced every other day. No consistency from management towards apprehensions or compensations. Unprofessional enviroment and actions towards customers. The lack of professionalism from management , employees and service techs causes bad treatment to paying consumers.
Pros
Vacation pay
Cons
Management/ unappreciated/ delivery mistakes/ no employee support from management

Senior Service Technician (Current Employee) –  Tamarac, FLJanuary 21, 2018
This is not the job to work at! Guys quit everyday! And city furniture hires to keep up with the quitting rate. If you have a family this job is not for you, if you want a pesonal life this job is not for you. Management sucks! You get paid a small percentage. They route the truck so you get back late to promote the company. This is a terrible company. If a piece of furniture comes back for whatever reason and its not delivery drivers fault the drivers doesn't get paid for the value of those pieces. Wow! Company that preaches family orientation but isn't family oriented at all! Runs company like a plantation. Supervisors and managers watch from outside the zones while you're working hard sweating loading the truck like masters. They can see you struggling and wont help at all! Their number 1 priority is for their truck to go out and delivery furniture they dont care if you're tired, sick, hurt, family emergency anything they're heartless! Don't work here!!!!! It's not worth it!
Pros
Nothing!
Cons
Everything!
