Maintenance Technician in Bellevue, WA
on November 16, 2022

What is the best part of working at the company? Government benefits, stable employment What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Keeping up with the newest political trend. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Good old boys club. I watched as the favorites could do no harm, and the non favorites could do no right. After receiving an opertunity to leave, I did. Even though it involved a pay cut. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Repairing police, fire and all other city vehicles.

Parks Maintenance Worker in Bellevue, WA

I took a job here because I had heard good things about the management and figured with the size and affluence of Bellevue, they would be a top notch organization. I was very wrong. Upper management seemed to be good people, but we never saw them to speak of. Middle management was luck of the draw, some good, some bad. I got the bad. Morale was abysmal throughout the department, lots of negativity, lots of talking about people behind their backs. Industry practices seemed to be 20 years behind the times, the facilities felt about 40 years behind the times. Knowledge and training did not seem to be a priority, more of just put your head down and work kind of mentality. Training seemed to be viewed as an excuse to get out of work.

Beware!! A core value is "committment to employees" - only if you do what they tell you or think like they do. Do not think for yourself or you'll be out of a job. If you enjoy being a robot, having your rights not taken into consideration, or enjoy not being able to give input to your supervisors, then this is the place for you. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Crew Leader in Bellevue, WA
on November 5, 2021

I worked in the streets department I began my career as a seasonal worker, got hired fulltime and then worked up through the ranks to crew leader. The pay is very competitive with great medical, dental and vision benefits. The work is performed in all types of weather and overtime/weekend work is expected. Management will support you through your career give you the training needed to be successful. I would still be working there if I didn't relocate to be closer to my wife's family.

Program Management in Bellevue, WA

Stay away! After working in tech and looking for a new opportunity to do good, found out that City of Bellevue is a hole. Never should have made the move from a well paying secure job. Management in Utilities is incompetent and looking for someone to blame. It’s a revolving door. Enter at your own risk. Good luck!
