Lifeguard (Former Employee) – Columbia, MO – January 22, 2018
A day of work as a life guard is almost guaranteed to be a long boring day since you spend most of it sitting down watching kids swim. But when ever you are needed for assistance, you could be the deciding factor in whether someone lives or dies. So you must always be ready at a moments notice.
As a employee for 911 communications it is a demanding job and it's not built for anyone. This job takes dedication and determination as well. You have to stay strong minded to get through any type of call you may receive. You never know what you have to deal with when you answer the phone or if you are dispatching to the appropriate agency.

Equipment Operator (Current Employee) – Columbia, MO – October 2, 2017
When I was a little kid growing up in Columbia, Mo I seen a lot of the neighborhood adults had jobs working for the city and they all said that the city was a good place to work. Now those same men who are right around the corner from retiring tell everyone to get out while they still have a chance.
Water Meter Technician (Former Employee) – Columbia, SC – September 28, 2017
My experience working with the City of Columbia has been and still is great. I really enjoy the people I work for and with. The job is kind of dangerous and a lot can happen, but the City of Columbia is big on safety. In closing I would recommend working at the City of Columbia to anyone.

If you are someone's fishing buddy or brother-in-law, you can advance. If not, you are out of luck. Mid level management is held to no level of accountability and advancement is purely based on favoritism.
