People were great but management was toxic
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - October 18, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedAs much as I loved working here, management was horrible. They provided no help and always had something to complain about. You can work your butt off and they will end up stealing all the credit. The people I worked with were great, they were like a second family to me. It is a shame that because of the lack of support from management I was forced to leave

Goes by a little slow but it's easy stress free work. Quiet and peaceful for the most part minus the occasional rowdy homeless
Library Page (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - April 15, 2023
Everyone was nice and welcoming. Nothing felt forced with my coworkers and the library was a quiet slow paced environment. I miss it. No one ever made you feel dumb for being new. There are no cliques at work either, which is a good thing. Because other places. You can quickly feel like an outsider

Security Officer (Current Employee) - 115 N. Maryland Ave - July 4, 2022
I've been employed through out my whole life w/so much chaos but im this job during my graveyard shift...it is so peaceful that 8 feel so much secured. Although the chaos is related so much on the homeless that the city needs to work on that to improve a so much cleaner environment to be worked on to reduce the activity crimes involved.

Good coworkers
Dump Truck Operator (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - February 18, 2022
Management sucks but most of the coworkers are good and fun to work with. Work/home life is terrible for the pay and zero advancement if you don't kiss up to management

I worked as a facility attendant at pacific pool
Facility Attendant (Former Employee) - 509 S pacific - January 28, 2022
Management and staff were supporting and flexible. I learned a lot at this work place and the manager did a great job. I enjoyed going to work on a daily basis. I heard that they are doing a year round schedule which is great.
Pros
Fun place to work, caring employees and supervisors.
Cons
No place to grow

Productive and fun
Laborer (Current Employee) - Glendale, CA - August 10, 2021
The work is great and my Co-workers were mostly all cool. The only thing that sucked was the pay. I’ve been here for over two years and I only make 15 dollars an hour.
Pros
Great co-workers.
Cons
Low pay, no room for advancement.

Not a productive place to work
Yard Worker/Welder (Current Employee) - Integrated Waste Management - July 29, 2021
Integrated Waste Management has been decimated by nepotistic management practices for the past 15 years. Public Works is a shadow of what it used to be. Employees hang their heads and made eye contact with the ground. Public Works employees are chronically underpaid and underutilized. Half of all departments within Public Works are staffed by hourly employees that will never gain full civil service benefits. Integrated Waste Management has been consistently understaffed for the past 15 years. Senior employees are retiring and their positions are not being filled.
Pros
None.
Cons
Nepotism, deceit, and a lack of a living wage.

Poor Support from immediate manager.
Economic Development Manager (hourly Consultant) (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - July 1, 2021
Was very let down by management, my immediate supervisor was not given the support that was promised to do my job, I left a perfectly good job on promises that were made to me that never come through. My immediate manager was a typical bureaucrat without a clue about marketing and small businesses
Pros
nice people
Cons
Management only thinks of themselves and keeping their job, everyone else is expendible

Not a place worth Investing time in no room for growth
Parking Enforcement Officer (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - October 1, 2020
There is no room for advancement, and management is terrible in carrying out policies and rules of the company!!! Terrible in getting back to you for important factors that pertain to the job duties itself. Furthermore, there is a lot of favoritism going on in this particularly environment or department. Stay away!!! Unless you absolutely have no choice salary is decent but you would be miserable on a day to day basis because of the selection of people who run management. They put a quota on you after the fact they state you don’t have a quota, they call you out on the littles things that don’t really matter or even pertain to your job duties. In addition there is a lot of gossip going on within there inner circle. Very stressful and hostle environment.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Management and supervisors

Economic Development Mgr. (Former Employee) - office or community development - September 1, 2020

Pros

Cons

Live up to your county standards.
Waiter (Current Employee) - Glendale, CA - June 9, 2020
For some reason, Glendale; with 2 malls, restaurants on top of restaurants, thinks it is better than not only LA county and all the unincorporated areas of the county who's minimum wage is $15 dollars an hour but because Glendale is incorporated in LA county it is allowed to pay only $13 dollars an hour. If unincorporated areas have to pay the same as LA county why on earth are the actual incorporated areas exempt?.
Anything to not pay a proper wage

Temp Assignment (Former Employee) - City of Glendale engineering department - April 4, 2020
I could see in the office they need someone to organize all the file and have back up on the computer files.
It was the best position to get me back in workforce

Driving in Glendale can be a bit challenging due to the type of environment
Driver (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - September 6, 2019
You must be patient when dealing with passengers and traffic, especially the drivers out there. Keep in mind Glendale has a high rate of accidents that is why it can be stressful in this type of environment.

We would cut dead trees so if there would be a fire it wouldn't spread quickly
glendale youth alliance (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - September 2, 2019
I worked at GYA when I was 14 years old, 2017-2019 I worked there on summer brush clearance.Instead of sitting at home and not doing anything I want to go work and collect money for my college

Great place to start your career in a rewarding field. An experience I'll never forget.
Street Maintenance Worker (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - August 31, 2019
I started out in the parks department, then was hired as a street maintenance worker. Working in concrete, then transferred to the asphalt street department. I spent five years on an asphalt patch truck alone honing my skills in street repairs, and assisting crews using a radio to communicate daily.I thrived in this position crafting myself as a worker in the field.

Poor management and very uncollaborative
manager (Former Employee) - city of glendale, ca - July 9, 2019
No industry related training and not allowed to join any business forum or discussion. Was asked to not sharing information with senior manager and work is always boss oriented. Employees are not experts of their work, but servants of the boss. Was threatened to “not come to work tomorrow “ at a business strategy meeting. Data was manipulated and revised for better showing. Groups are not working well together. Credits are given by exposure, not by credit base. Employees are not allowed to talk at business meetings even if they are experts of the aspects. HR process is a mess too. Employees are asked to not take sick leaves. Family leaves are declined for taking care of adoption parents just because they do not live in the same household. Position is terminated while employee is at sick leave.

Poor management, unqualified staff, nepotism. Lack of diversity.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Glendale, CA - April 17, 2019
Unqualified individuals in management roles. A lot of family and friends working there (hence unqualified individuals in important roles) that start as hourly and then later are "promoted" to salaried. Lack of diversity and inclusion.
Pros
Salary and work schedule.
Cons
Nepotism, poor management, lack of diversity and inclusion.

The job wasn't difficult what so ever it was pretty self explanatory and with a team everything was much easier.
Pros
laid back, stress free
Cons

There were great experiences had and work relationships formed with the City of Glendale. The lack of career advancement was only due to no full time
