BILLING COORDINATOR (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXMarch 7, 2019
Busy day always. Hard work does not always get you what you deserve. Management was awful. I made several life long friends. Having to fight to hold your place on a daily basis. Getting to help customers on a daily basis.

Job was different every day
Police Officer (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXAugust 10, 2018
The best part of the job was the interaction with the Community.

The stressors of the job were very real.

The pay started off below average - but with time - improved

Accountant (Former Employee) –  City of La Porte, TXJune 19, 2018
This is a governmental position - there were always political issues involved in the workday. A plus is that policies and procedures are in place and utilized daily,

Extensive management issues
Paramedic I, Paramedic II (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXApril 9, 2018
Modern equipment and apparatus, pay is below average, management is hostile and gives preferential treatment to select employees depending on the amount of extra favors they do for upper management. Protocols are regressive, the company failed to make advancements and prefers a black and white approach to patient care and discourages a "think out of the box" approach which often does more harm than good for their patients.
Pros
Modern equipment
Cons
Pay, Protocols, Management

Lifeguard (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TX 77571December 20, 2017
Great environment, great workplace, most patrons are nice but occasionally there are extremely rude customers, the life guards should be paid more than the head guards because all the head guards do is check the water and call 10 minute break, great aquatic coordinators.
Pros
Good pay, fun environment
Cons
Occasionaly rude customers, hours depend on weather

Mechanic (Current Employee) –  La Porte, TXJune 9, 2017
Great place to work and the people are great. Easy to make friends and a good honest way to make a living. So days are better than others but the friends that are made will last a lifetime.

Excellent workplace for starting families with small children. Generous PTO time and flexibility. Little to no chance of career advancement.
Office Administrator (Current Employee) –  La Porte, INMay 16, 2017
If you're looking for a 40hr work week with average benefits and generous PTO time this is the perfect job. There is minimal opportunity for advancement and chances are you will be performing the exact same job for decades.

Corrupt Place
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXOctober 1, 2016
City of La Porte is a very lazy and corrupt work environment, exercise caution when applying too. Management are basically like task masters and expect everyone else to do their work for them, hopefully things will change soon.

employee (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXNovember 10, 2015
The City of La Porte is very citizen driven. Entirely too many personal relationships between citizens and City Council. Stay away from the politics. Good customer service is a must. Compensation may be low, but the Benefits are good. Overall, good place to work.

Deputy Tax Collector (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXDecember 23, 2014
Assisted customers with tax payments and posted in system for processing.
I was always going to different tax classes and seminars to keep up with the changing tax laws.
The management was always fair and encouraged education.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with the extremely mad or upset customers.
The most rewarding part was helping customers with payment plans for there delinquent taxes so they wouldn't lose their home or property.

Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Former Employee) –  La Porte, TXAugust 11, 2014
Great Co-Workers and environment, but the pay isn't great. The management doesn't offer any overtime, they get a bigger bonus at the end of the year for the more money they save. This city is run like a business instead of a service to the citizens. Overall it was a great place to work, I wish the compensation was a little better or i wouldn't have left.
Pros
Not much responsibility

Low Pay
