Not a good place to work

There is racism there and highly shown.

The African Americans are treated poorly. This place is NOT diverse. The pay is not good for the work that's perform and expected.

Productive and enjoyable place to work.
A very enjoyable place to work. Work was challenging and intellectually stimulating. Management very supportive of employees and provided opportunities to "have fun" at work.

I don't know. Typically beauracratic
I was frustrated by a lack of continuity between written and verbally expressed expectactions. However, benefits were ok, and scheduling was flexible

Don't trust anyone because you are led to believe that the City is a great place to work. However when something does not go correctly - then watch out.

Opportunities for public service in a variety of departments.
Working as a manager for the City of San Diego provides an opportunity to perform a wide variety of tasks across a range of departments. The work can be challenging, but also very rewarding because of the impact it has on the community.

Pay might not be as competitive compared to other government agencies, but the benefits are good and opportunities for promotion are there.

Chill place low pay
Fun place to work hard. Seems like endurance is a critical skill because everything is urgent all the time. Interesting projects but discouraged about the work environment because it seems like you have to have blond hair to get promoted. The Mayor's office and leadership seems like a Barbie doll crew.

Great place to work!
I worked at Do Your Homework at the Library program. It was a great experience, excellent supervisors. Kids were great and families appreciative. Would go back in a flash.

Secure work environment
It's a great career and the benefits are awesome. There are at times not room for promotion. There are a lot of paid holidays and a person accrues time off very quickly.

Very good
Good employers and supervisors that helped and understood you at all time. Employees always knew they could go to their regular support person or their immediate supervisor for help for a talk if there was a problem either physical or mentally.
Pros
Open door policies
Cons

Incompetence
The City COULD be a great place to work as a litigator. However, due to a failure of leadership and accountability many of the experienced and top attorneys' have fled due to incoherent office politics and poor leadership, low salaries, and low moral. The City is a great place to get trial experience but it needs mid-level 6 year attorneys' to train new attorneys. It should be noted that on more than at least 6 occasions top attorneys have been courted back because of their experience and work ethic.

Cons
Everything else.

Fair pay for fair work.
Good money but management is complacent and there is little opportunity for growth. Job security is weak and many employees are lazy and not dedicated to creating strong programs for the public.

Caring For customers
The dispatch center is a small family of employees that support each other to ensure that customers receive the highest quality of service. Even working with guys in the field amplifies the family hood.
