CityVet selected this as a representative reviewLet it be known, everything you may have heard about CityVet’s amazing culture is true and helps drive all the work I do. I am surrounded by the best-in-class teams in my own clinic, our partner clinics and in the CityVet main office, who never hesitate to lend me a hand and support me when I need anything. The work-life balance is the best I have experienced in this industry, and I have found myself enjoying my day-to-day life more and more since working here!
Pros
Strong culture, lively environment, great staff support, as-needed breaks, PTO & benefits
Cons
Working a few weekends

Fun to work at but needs better management
Animal Care Attendant (Former Employee) - Bedford, TX - November 30, 2023
Good place to start with decent pay for the field but it is very fast paced and requires a dedicated team. If you have the mindset, it's great to get hands on experience. But it does take a lot out of you.

Great learning experience in both animals and medinces, and software management
CSS (Customer Service Specialist) (Current Employee) - Frisco, TX - November 5, 2023
I have learned so much working for CityVet. My typing skills have improved. I take multiple calls everyday and my literacry has expanded. I get to care for animals and help them move forward to a better life. I get to meet a new pet almost every day. My Mangerment is the best. They really care about your work, life, balance. They always take time to listen to your concerns, if they arise.
Pros
Meeting new animals and clients every day, Working with a team who all care about the animals in many ways.
Cons
If you don't have thick skin, don't apply, you will get yelled at and get called names, be willing to learn anything and everything

Fantastic and fun place to work with loads of opportunity to advance!
Assistant Practice Manager (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - October 2, 2023
Coming to work for CityVet has been the best decision I've made. The welcomed me with open arms, a newbie, with ZERO veterinary experience. I have learned so much working here and CityVet encourages constant learning. All of the staff are very hard working and go out of their way to make sure the clinic runs smoothly day in and day out. I could not ask for better management. The doors are always open. The compensation and benefits are super competitive with other clinics in the area. I truly value this company and the people I work with here.
Pros
Excellent management, opportunities to grow, pay and benefits

Great Job, Great Place to Work!
Social Media Specialist (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - September 20, 2023
Working at CityVet has been an incredibly rewarding experience. What truly sets CityVet apart is its dedication to growth and its focus on its culture. This workplace radiates warmth, with a supportive and close-knit team. The inclusive culture fosters collaboration and innovation, reflecting the company's commitment to its core values. The job itself is both challenging and fulfilling, and the company's flexibility in work arrangements ensures an excellent work-life balance. Before working here I was convinced I would be miserable in my first job post-grad but CityVet has been more than I could've every hoped for! I genuinely enjoy my work each day and the atmosphere, culture, and abundant room for personal and professional growth just makes it that much better. A true gem in the employment landscape!

Supportive, fun workplace
Marketing Intern (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - September 19, 2023
CityVet is my first full-time, corporate job coming out of college and I feel so lucky and grateful that I am starting out my career here. Being a smaller company, my work (even as an intern) is creating a direct impact and I've been trusted to help my team with important initiatives. My bosses are encouraging and understanding, and I can tell they care about my growth as a fresh grad. I also haven't met one unfriendly person in the office–although the home office isn't very diverse, I don't feel out of place or uncomfortable as one of the few POC. Seeing pets almost every day is definitely also a bonus, and knowing my work is contributing to a company that cares for animals makes my work feel fulfilling.
Pros
Seeing pets in the office, kind and supportive coworkers
Cons
Home office could have more diversity

Great place to work
Student Extern (Former Employee) - Las Colinas, TX - September 1, 2023
I had a really great time as a student extern with CityVet. They have a nice program to involve students in learning vet med. There was lots of hands-on opportunities and the Dr's were like mentors rather than employers.
Pros
Compensation

Mixed Feelings.
ACA (Former Employee) - Bedford, TX - August 22, 2023
Pros: If anything personal happens in your life that keeps you from going to work like your car breaks down or something they're very understanding and will work with you on it. Taking care of the dogs. Cons: Although the management is understanding and friendly they don't know how to manage their employees. They'd rather be friends with them then punish them for anything. When it comes to meds they allow any and all employees no matter their experience give dogs meds and I'm talking heart meds and insulin for diabetic dogs. Luckily the year I worked no dogs died from their mistakes and they made them a lot. The managers excuse was that it didn't happen all the time. It shouldn't happen AT ALL. If you're having a problem with an employee the managers won't help you solve it. If you can't solve it on your own they don't know what to do to help you. They expect you to solve the problem on your own when the employees don't want to talk to you about it to begin with. They rarely take any of your suggestions when you make them. They always have an excuse for not taking the suggestions. This also includes the owner. I did notice after several employees suggestioned a lead in the back they finally added a lead position on Indeed, but it looks like it's just for training new employees. Funny how they finally do it after I left. I wouldn't suggest anyone to work here let alone leave your dogs here. The chances of them taking good care of them is small. They also allow any dogs into their facility no matter how aggressive or anxious they are.
Pros
The dogs
Cons
Management and owner.

Jobs at CityVet
Not worth it.
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist (Current Employee) - Bedford, TX - July 28, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Benefits were great. Discount even better. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Everything. Management doesn’t hold anyone accountable. Front desk chick is so rude and disrespectful. The hours are garbage, pay is subpar. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Cliques everywhere. No real team What is a typical day like for you at the company? Not good at all. Very stressful. Left work in tears from frustration most days.

Ok
Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - July 26, 2023
Its an OK place to work to get the fundamentals and basics of vet med but not really a good place to grow and learn, everything is sent out and nothing is done in house and the Dr do all the major tech work ):

It was OK.
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - Frisco, TX - July 23, 2023
It wasn’t a terrible place to work, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for someone first starting out. I learned more at my new clinic in 3 months than I ever did at CityVet. Don’t let the job title fool you, as an assistant you will basically be their kennel tech. I didn’t apply to be a kennel tech, and if you aren’t looking for that either then I would definitely look for someplace else to work.

Great Externship for 4th Year Vet Students
Vet Extern (Former Employee) - Bulverde, TX - July 21, 2023
I learned so much during my short time at Country Hills CityVet location and will continue to recommend it to my classmates looking for a good externship. Great environment, high case load, and just a fun time! You won’t leave feeling empty!

Uptown CityVet is not a good place to work
Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - July 6, 2023
Management was not supportive at all. The hospital manager and the assistant HM did not demonstrate teamwork or care for their team. We would get reprimanded for leaving at our designated shift end time instead of staying late to help teammates but once the managers end shift came around they would run out the door even if we were swamped and needed help. They would tell us “good luck!” And leave. They would expect us to work late but leave on time themselves. They would also complain if we weren’t “moving quick enough” stating there would be no reason to have clients waiting even though we are understaffed and overbooked, if we said so they would say that just simply isn’t true; they wouldn’t know because they’re not in the back treatment area to see just how hard we’re working and how busy we are. When I would have issues and seek management help, they would always try to put it back on me ie if I had a difficult client they would tell me what to say to the client even if I would tell them I wasn’t comfortable continuing the conversation with said client they would be very reluctant to actually step up and speak to the client themselves.
Pros
Medical director was fantastic to work with and coworkers were friendly
Cons
Management

Great workplace, great opportunities
Veterinarian (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - June 29, 2023
I've practiced in many different environments and CityVet is, by far, the best. I have tons of support but I'm not dictated to. I have tons of opportunity and appreciate that my family life can still be prioritized. The culture and the people are the best!
Pros
The people and the culture are truly amazing, I can actually own my practice and be the decision maker, everyone is kind and helpful, I'm never made to feel stupid or alone, I am building a career and can financially support my family

Amazing internship experience
Communications / Marketing Intern (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - June 8, 2023
CityVet is an amazing company to work for. This place is truly one of a kind. There is no awkward phase once you start, because everyone has a way of making you feel so welcome and comfortable. You will never feel undervalued or underappreciated here. Even if it is just for three months, getting the opportunity to work with everyone at CityVet is something I will be thankful for throughout the rest of my professional career.
Pros
Monthly team lunches, provided equipment, swift onboarding, employee benefits and discounts, vibrant workplace culture

Great workplace
Kennel Technician/Receptionist (Former Employee) - Cedar Hill, TX - May 15, 2023
I had a great experience here. This is a good company that seems to care about employees at all levels. This was my first clinic and everyone was so kind with teaching me new skills. They have a scrub allowance and many other benefits. I’d love to come back once I finish up school.

No room for advancement
Client Service Representative (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - May 14, 2023
Cityvet promises alot but can never deliver what they promise. They would rather have a bad employee that does things wrong at their job then keep the good workers that work and shows that they care about the company.
Pros
No pros
Cons
No leadership

Accounting Manager (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - April 19, 2023
The majority of the team works really hard at making every day meaningful and a great place to work. If you focus outward on helping your team and the clinics, then it's a great place to work.
