Teachers work nine and a half months with a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for the winter holiday season and a week for spring break. Most federal holidays were used for professional development in order to have the week off for both spring and thanksgiving breaks.Summer break is usually about ten weeks in which time teachers can go to workshops, conventions, teach summer school, and write curriculum.
