Bus driver (Former Employee) –  League City, TXAugust 11, 2018
No matter what you do in a school district you are never paid enough for what you did. My immediate supervisor did all that she could but her supervisors or ineffective. They have never driven a school bus being that they don't have cdl's so the didn't fully understand what it was to be a bus driver. I work for the district for so long because I had weekends off and you are able to work plenty of overtime which makes really nice checks.

Ok place for part time work. Not jazzed about split shift. I am not going to say more since it is not in my best interest To say everything is 100% great is incorrect to say anything negative will hurt my future endeavors

Great environment to work in, everyone is like family, and always there to help.
School Bus Driver (Former Employee) –  League City, TXJanuary 15, 2013
For starters; you go in and sometimes check with dispatch to see if they need help covering routes. Then set out to do a morning pre trip, where you inspect your bus inside and out checking to make sure all of your lights and everything is working according to the law and safety standards. Now, its time to pick up the kiddos and take them to school as safely as possible. Then most of the time your off for about 3-4 hours. After you do another inspection in an out, you go to your first school. For me it was high school. Then you take them home, and head to one of our intermediate schools. Which I drove a special intermediate. It was a magnant wave, where these students took a special test and with aproval got to choose to attend another in district school for special programs. This was my favorite group. They were very well behaved and to listen to them in their conversations was amazing. I learned with students you definitely have to have patience and understanding. You dont always know what is going on in a childs life. So the more assertive you are the more the child will positively respond. Is what I gathered. But I know everyone is different. Our management was great, If we ever had any issues they backed us an took care of it. Or if we needed help; they were quick to respond. My co-workers were all like a second family. If any of us needed something there was a co-worker there to listen and or help. Very caring people. Definitely the type of people I trust my own children with. The hardest part of the job was driving in unfamiliar areas, because your unaware of certain  more... dangers. This usually would happen if you unexpectedly had to sub in for part or a whole route for a co worker. You also don't know their kids. But it usually ran pretty smooth. The most enjoyable part of this job I would have to say is getting to participate in field trips. Thats where we get to show our team spirit and watch some of our students play sports. Just showing up, it shows them encouragement and that we care.  less
