Teacher (Former Employee) – Cleveland, OH – July 1, 2016
The kids are fun to talk to, but it is difficult to teach them anything serious because they are so far below grade level. In mid-high school, they cannot deal with abstract concepts, have poor retention of information, need to have half the information on "guided" notes done for them, struggle to follow directions on lab activities that are geared for children younger than they are, and do poorly on tests, even when they make use of their "study guides" during the test. The children's behavior is immature, also; although they are not malicious, their silly antics make a mess in the classroom, waste time, and their remarks or the way they address the teacher can be offensive. Administration is intermittently supportive; they will be strict about dress code--sometimes, but not necessarily respond to insolence or lying to manipulate the teacher.
