Decent pay compared to others especially if you don’t have your masters degree. Great benefits. Great kids. Great teachers. Nothing else nice to say.

job is rewarding for the most part the students, and parents are becoming more of a challenge

I teach 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in the inner-city of Cleveland. The students mostly come from low-socio-economic backgrounds with very low reading levels which makes it hard to reach academic achievement. The culture of the building is, the moral is low for the teaching staff.

Pros

good benefits summers off

Cons

management who lack emotional intelligence

Stressful yet morally satisfying

A typical day starts at 5:30 am. There are usually at least 15 or more teacher absences. Upon arriving at a school cultures vary, depending on size, area and administrative structure. The hardest part of the day is getting settled in with a sound lesson plan, the easiest part is planning period.

Pros

free coffee and snacks at some schools

Cons

no healthcare or benefits offered to day subs
