Overall a great place to work if you enjoy staying busy and enjoy working with kids. Pay could be better since your pay is spread throughout the school year. You will work in the health room under a managing nurse.

Fabulous

Fabulous support, from the top down. Leadership listens to you and encourages respectful dialogue and active listening. I learned a lot, loved my job and patients/families, and hated to leave.

Commitment

As a former employee in the self-contained classrooms I would not send my child to these classrooms. The behaviors of a few make it horrible for all involved. Aggressive behavior was frequent & distressing. The traditional classroom setting is not serving most of these students well & causing more harm.Teachers tried their hardest but countered with an overwhelming workload, difficult parents & emotionally, mentally draining work daily.Staff often were hit and bruised from aggressive behaviors.Most employees are pleasant & professional. The district did offer 1800 for educational expenses to support staff. 10 sick days & 2 personal days a year w/ pay increase. Substituting paid well and was pleasant. You learn which schools to avoid by viewing the overabundant need of subs in particular schools.

My pay equated to being "unskilled"

Despite the position requiring a 2 year degree and national certification, and continuing education... The pay was the same as an unskilled "aide". Therapy team was excellent. A shame the district was willing to pay more for a temp / traveler per hour.. than to just offer better pay to their own employees. But that's the poor logic of so many organizations nowadays. Lots of travel. Got to see how zip code equated to how much space / equipment you got. Again, lovely staff and team. Just wasn't great for pay / if you wanted to feed your family. Too many staff were working second jobs to keep a roof overhead.

Pros

Good schedule for having kids, summer is open for all required CEs

Cons

Traveled to multiple schools, Pay was NOT aligned to having a degree / loans, Union costs weren't worth it

Great work place!

The job can be hard because you are working with students who need extra support. However, there are a lot of really amazing coworkers who help. Also the pay is decent for the position.

Good place to start an education career

Lots of opportunities to learn, training, great connection building with the students. However, the pay being stretched over 12 months and being paid only monthly is extremely taxing. Impossible for a single parent household.

Like any school district, many pros and cons. Management was a little messy, a lot of work was put on us, and parents were on-edge.

I got lucky and was placed at 2 amazing schools with great management and support, so this overall, impacts my experience. Due to covid, things got really messy. A lot of SLPs left so us remaining had to pick up the pieces. Cloverpark could be better with lowering our caseload cap (it's at 65), but our SPED management were always transparent and tried their best to lower it and re-work everything. For my own mental health I refused to complete any work at home, so I felt my work-home balance was ok.

A great district that puts students first.

Overall a great district to work for. The union will have your back for anything the district doesn't, though you'd be hard-pressed to find a situation where the district won't help all they can.

Great work life balance

I came into my job with a lot of vision and enthusiasm. After a few years of what felt like an uphill battle I defaulted to the "way things were always done". I often felt left out at work, but I'm also an introvert working with a lot of extroverts. Clover Park does a great job centering students. I wish there were more opportunities for vision, creativity, and advancement. I also had an incredible, kind, and very fair direct manager. The jobs has a great hourly rate, but not a lot of hours, and then we don't work summers. It is a wonderful job if you are going to school, or if family is your main focus.

Great comraderie among the ranks most admin only care for themselves

Co-workers always appreciative of help and willing to lend a hand. Admin ready to make an example out of people over little things. Higher ups don't like giving any information about things until last minute leaving lower people wondering what's going to happen when other districts are giving answers to workers and the public already.

Schedule varies throughout the year when needed.

Beginning of the school year the schedule will not be set till student numbers have been constant. I was a fill in when needed with over flow of students for small groups. I ended up being the person to fix and run the laminator of the school. The most enjoyable part was when things were a bit slow and there is time to check in with students and teachers. The hardest part of the job can be the chain of command. It can be unclear as to what is expected as Para. Our job is to be here for the students and sometimes in some situations we're the last to be included or aware of changes in the school. I have learned to become adaptive to each enviornment I am working in and flexible with my breaks to be more available for the students.

Pros

Day time hours. Summers and weekends off. Paid sick leave and 2 days personal.

Cons

Hard to get any over time. Any additional ways to earn extra is not always made to be known.

Decent to work

It is hard to rate the district specifically, because most of my experience was with the people I worked with at my school. I know that our union is strong and does a great job fighting for our rights. I also know that experiences vary greatly, depending on which school you work in, and who you administrator is. I've been at the same school rd 19 years and have had fantastic, as well as horrible experiences.

Terrible place to work

Discipline is a joke, kids run the schools and they know it. Administration doesn't care about anyone. Honestly at clover park, you're just a number. I've seen teachers bully kids, I've seen campus security, a vice principal and a principal, egg kids on to try to get them to say something that would get them in legal trouble. I've watched teachers avoid the "problem kids" and will let them get away with murder. Don't work here and better yet, don't send your kids here. Cloverpark is not raising kids to be ready for the future. All they're doing is creating problems. The school to prison pipeline is real with this district. Just research district test scores and you'll see.

Great place to work

Fun work place. I really enjoyed the staff and the students i worked with while at Clover Park SD. As a lead I started early in the morning, so my day started with checking the building(s) for any issues and prepping it for the arrival of staff and students.

Excellent Manager/Boss

I really like working at Clover Park School District. School staff often leave me "thank you" gifts when I cover a classroom for the school. The students are pretty typical and the various staff members are highly supportive. It's only very rarely that you meet someone who presents themselves as feeling competitive/jealous. I work via contract and hear from the teachers that the union is not a strong one. Meanwhile, most teachers seem happy with their jobs. The paraeducators also seem to like their jobs.

Many of the jobs aren't worth the pay

The district and principals of individual schools will say that your time and effort is appreciated being a guest teacher, the appreciation ends there. The level of animosity varies so much by classroom and school that working here in this capacity is akin to gambling with your own emotional and mental well-being.

Passive aggressive workplace

A passive aggressive cliquish culture with an abundance of backstabbing. Excessive blaming & finger pointing disguised as problem solving. Promises made and not kept. Impossible demands. Verbally affirms that it's all about the kids, but really all about their own agendas.

Exciting and energizing work environment

Normal Elementary school environment. Worked from 8 am-2:30 pm daily, with occasional monthly or weekend training. Supervisors and staff always worked as a team and made working there enjoyable. Normal daily tasks involved teaching reading to intervention students, managing and supervising various school activities to include lunch and recess. Meetings monthly to discuss what can be improved upon and changing expectations for students and staff.

Pros

Set schedule, great team members, great kids, fun activities monthly.

Cons

Hard to schedule personal appointments due to amount of leave days allotted yearly.

I loved my job in the special education dept. Clover Park encourges their employees to further their education and is constantly providing up to date training and information.

As a Campus Supervisor/Security, Stay away

The school administration has no control or ability to supervise students at Clover Park High School. I was threatened almost daily with violence by students with little to no response from school administrators. I learned that everyone is threatened, its part of the culture, students are running the building, everyone is afraid of them and it shows. The amount of fights and danger to your health trying to break them up is extreme. You will find few staff members willing to help stop student violence, you will be on your own trying to break up fights and trying to stop good students from being attacked. The amount of fights will fluctuate, but you can get up to 5-6 in a day when things are going bad, but it is a daily event here. There are some great Teachers and staff that really care working here, but are powerless to change the poor management culture that are in charge, don't work here its very dangerous.
