Small Company

Forced dispatch for both company and contactor drivers. You need pump and air truck with hose rack to work there. Good paying load. No drop and hook most loads are live load and unload

A truly professional company that takes care of it’s employees and customers!
Driver (Current Employee) - St. Gabriel Louisiana - January 25, 2022
I have been with Coal City Cob for several months now. I wanted to wait a couple of months to do this review, let things unfold. First thing, the way my loads fell, I chose to stay out on Thanksgiving day. I received a personal message from the President thanking me for staying out and taking care of the customer I was working for. I was off for Christmas. This is one of the most professional trucking companies I have ever worked for. I work out of the St. Gabriel terminal and from day one, I have been taken care of well. The pay is awesome and the benefits are better. There are companies in the chemical transportation industry that boast a benefit package, namely health insurance that is little more than an ID card, and you pay the rest. Coal City Cob has a true benefit package that will take care of your family! The first truck I was assigned to was really nice truck, however a few days later a better truck came available. My terminal manager went out of his way to see that I got the truck pick of my choice. Along my journey, I have had a couple of mechanical issues on the road that were addressed and quickly taken care of, without hesitation. I have great communication with my dispatcher. Mostly I like to stay out and stay loaded, and really make some good checks. There has been a couple of occasions where I needed shorter runs to make some family occasions. Everything I have asked for, I have received. The trucking industry is a give and take. They are by far, fairer than any company I have been around. If you want to earn a great living for your family, and have -
Pros
Great work environment, pay, benefits, and equipment.
Cons
Haven’t found any yet. (I will update if I do)

Treated me like family before day one!!!!!
Owner/Operator (Former Employee) - Waxahachie, TX - October 27, 2021
Before I ran one load for Coal City Cob, they paid $4,500 to Freightliner to fix my truck. That right there established loyalty with me right away. After that, they continued to help me maintain my truck. You have to do an inspection every 90 days which I learned to love because now my truck is in its best mechanical condition ever. As for the money, you can make 250k easily. I had one week where I took home $10,000.00. The money is there, you just have to be willing to stay out. This was my best experience with any company I have ever worked for. And the chain of command was excellent because I could easily call the CEO of the company on his cell and he answered!
Pros
Making a lot of money.
Cons
Not being home every night.

Family friendly, Owner operator friendly.
Owner Operator (Current Employee) - Waxahachie, TX - October 2, 2021
I started as an owner operator for CC Cob in 2014. Ive seen many changes. Some not so great a few years back, but some very good over the past couple of years. New management has helped transform this company into something special. It is not the same company it was a few short years ago. They actually care about the drivers like no other company I have ever driven for. It’s not uncommon for the President to reach out to the drivers directly. Dispatch is very flexible and supportive and allows me to be through the house often and my income has never been greater. Rates seem to keep going up and I don’t sit. It almost sounds too good to be true, but this has been my experience and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this company. They are very strict about being on time but otherwise pretty laid back. Just make sure you plan your trips carefully so that you are never late.
Pros
Rates, home time, family friendly, income potential, new management, steady work, great income
Cons
Shop turnaround can be slow at times, trailers seem to have been in short supply due to rapid business growth but are improving

Management and equipment
Driver (Current Employee) - Cincinnati, OH - June 4, 2021
I have been employed with coal city cob in Cincinnati since 2017. I have watched many changes within those few years. I have seen the good and the bad. The company has always been driven to do better. The last year or two I have witnessed a massive amount of growth. They have greatly improved in maintenance on trailers and trucks as well as consistently rolling out brand new trailers and trucks equally company wide. Top end management has greatly improved. I have never seen them as a bad company but now see them as a company striving to be competitive and consistently changing for the better customer and employee based.
Pros
Dispatch is flexible and easy to work with
Cons
Long hours

Great company to work for very organized
Driver (Current Employee) - Waxahachie, TX - May 19, 2021
I am home 🏠 a lot and I work hard from one place to another the schedule is very nice and easy to make my delivery’s. The company is very well organized and the management is very nice and easy to talk to about problems that you may encounter with customers and understanding. The biggest thing is too be on time for pickup and delivery 🚚 for the most part is that all trucking companies are the same, because with out customers we would not have job. The pay in line with other trucking companies and the benefits are decent. My wife told me that she see me more now than she ever has in my trucking career and they have very nice equipment to drive with a refrigerator in truck over all I love working for this company.

No job is perfect but they are solid
Truck Driver Class A CDL (Current Employee) - Charlotte, NC - May 18, 2021
Overall coal city cob has been good . The president of the company does not mind working . He dispatched me on a load one time, called my phone personally ,he always keep the drivers up to date with any little thing in the company even down to birthdays .You don’t get that everyday from higher ups . I been with them a year now and plan to continue to be with them. My dispatchers keep me busy and home time is NEVER a problem . They will work you only if you want the work ,I have a steady paycheck(very consistent) and home time .
Pros
The freedom
Cons
Honestly at this point there are no cons for me

Great line of work, and gets me wherever i need to go.
Tanker Driver (Current Employee) - Rahway, NJ - May 18, 2021
make my best money here. It's a reason why I'm still here and still get the best of both worlds with hometime whenever I need to be back (if there's no major repair drawbacks from my truck being downed) I don't like the newer company trucks they ordering "due to all the new safety features they put on it including automatic braking, which can be extremely dangerous if your riding in snow or riding on black ice you not aware of until the last Second brakes are applied and your sliding" (speaking from experience) outside of that on the company side us drivers can hit 80-103K depending on how much you want to work. If you decide to come here and ready to work be prepared to make some money is my motto.
Pros
Great money & good benefits
Cons
Newer truck safety kit need to be disabled. Auto braking is dangerous

Awesome Trucking Company to Work For
Driver (Current Employee) - Waxahachie, TX - April 6, 2021
I’ve been in the trucking industry since 2002 and I have never worked for a better company with better income potential. Through the house often to enjoy your family and still enjoy a great income. Management and dispatch team really care about the drivers, not treated like a number like I was with all of the other companies I drove for. If you have a problem, they listen. New equipment and new management team over the past year has made this company even better. This is not even the same company it was two years ago. A lot has changed for the better. If you like to run hard, make great money, and be treated like family, this is the place for you.
Pros
Income potential, good paying freight, through the house often, new management, this company is pro-driver
Cons
No lease purchase program.

Renewed management team, productive and good working environment
Sales (Current Employee) - Waxahachie - April 5, 2021
During my tenure here, I have lived the good, the bad, and the ugly. This is the Good. The current management team promotes transparency, curiousness, a solutions oriented mindset, working collaboratively, think strategically, and to be organized. We have a family feel here, we work together, and we win together.
Pros
Fresh outlook; Family; Team; Leadership; Business is growing
Cons
None - focus on what you CAN do!

Being Transparent
President (Current Employee) - Waxahachie, TX - April 5, 2021
I joined Coal City Cob in February of 2020. I think it's really humbling to be a part of a 50+ year old company and having the challenge of living up to that legacy. There are a lot of really great people here who want to do a good job and I think Coal City Cob is getting better at providing the tools to do that. The best part of working here is getting to know everyone who works here and trying to put them in the best position to succeed. The hardest part is when we can't figure out a way to do that fast enough. No place is ever going to be perfect, including this one, but I think the culture here continues to transition towards taking more moments to hear people out and trying to solve problems.
Pros
Transparent culture, people first, strong legacy
Cons
Trailers need more attention / replacement, communication still needs to improve
