Need more internal training
System Engineer III (Former Employee) - Ashburn, VA - January 21, 2016
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedUnfocused sales strategy. Inability for management to base strategy to deliver better business. Loss of internal innovation replaced by acquisition. The company is primarily focused on building economic value for its investors by acquiring businesses and cutting costs afterwards. The employees' struggles to communicate cross functionally.

They will cut your hours with no notice
Manufacturing Operator (Current Employee) - Catawba County, NC - June 9, 2023
I work at the catawba plant and our hours are cut for at least 3 months. They say we don't have enough orders. Was a decent place to work for in the past. Seems it's going downhill.
Pros
Good work life balance. No micro managing. Cafeteria
Cons
Hours are badly cut with no notice.

Going down hill
Receiving Coordinator (Former Employee) - Claremont, NC - June 9, 2023
Supported my family for 19 years. Management lost touch with what was important and stopped caring about the employees. Lots of changes over the past 3 years that impacted the company in a negative way.

Terrible Environment
Finance Manager (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - June 8, 2023
Company is struggling to stay afloat given massive debt load and declining businesses. They've done massive staff cuts, eliminated merit increases, and stopped doing 401-k matches and will soon start selling off chunks of the business to raise cash just to survive. Turnaround management team installed by private equity owners has created toxic environment. Everyone is miserable. Stay away from this company!

Not great for software developers
Principal Software Engineer (Current Employee) - Austin, TX - June 7, 2023
I came into CommScope via an acquisition. It's a great manufacturing and hardware company, but I'm a software developer and they aren't really good at software management and innovation. What's worse, due to the downturn, not only did they cancel raises, but they are also canceling all long term incentives and 401(k) contributions.

Fun
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Hickory, NC - June 1, 2023
Great work life balance. The pay is alright for most positions. Global management has no clue of what they are doing. Local management is good, there hands are just tied.

May 30, 2023Thank you so much for the positive review and for sharing details about your personal experience as we strive to continuously improve our work experience for all employees.
Good Workplace; Horrible Stability
The Good : average to above average pay, excellent 401k and match, excellent vacation policy, and most importantly you will work with amazing and talented people. The OK: healthcare benefits are average to below average. The Bad : Commscope has serious financial issues stemming from a heavy debt load, leading to quarterly layoffs. The value of the company has fallen over 80% in the last 5 years. All employees are performing 3+ functional jobs. Multiple layoffs have significantly reduced morale.

Productive workplace
Manufacturing operator (Former Employee) - Catawba, NC - May 17, 2023
Depending on what your job is, your day can be slow or fast. I’ve learned that not all jobs are created equal. Management is fair. The culture of the company is great. The hardest part of the job is staying awake. The most enjoyable part of the job are the days off.

Excellent People, Poor Upper Management and Constant Restructuring
Decline to Share (Former Employee) - Remote - May 16, 2023
Currently, it feels too unstable to recommend. I have no complaints about the work or the people I worked with regularly. Layoffs were frequent and threw everyone for a loop every time they happened.
Pros
Remote, Hybrid, Compensation, Vacation
Cons
Unstable, Healthcare is just OK

Jobs at CommScope
Toxic management by fear culture.
Senior Manager – Process Engineering and Quality (Former Employee) - Catawba, NC - May 12, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Poorly managed company. Management by fear environment. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? CS promotes a management by fear environment. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? High pressure. They have no loyalty or respect for employees. Ambiente de Trabajo con Oportunidad de Crecimiento
Manufacturing Technician I (Current Employee) - Baja California - May 1, 2023
Cuentan con un ambiente de trabajo enfocado a cumplir con las metas, sin embargo es un entorno dónde todos se apoyan y se busca lograr el objetivo común, la variedad de problemas a resolver es lo más interesante; se aprende bastante.

Account Manager
Account Manager (Current Employee) - San Francisco Bay Area, CA - April 24, 2023
Difficult role with many different aspects to the job. There is good training by following your team and help from the organization, but the company is mostly remote in terms of its help. You will have to look for your own opportunities.

Great place to work
Manufacturing Operator (Current Employee) - Claremont, NC - April 1, 2023
Great place to work! 4 on, 4 off, 12 hour shifts for Operators. Overtime is paid after 8 hours. 4 day weeks = 16 hours of OT. A typical Operator makes about $65-70k annually. Typically, additional OT is there is if you want it. Normally, it is very easy to get time off, I've never been denied a day off request. Management wise, the day shift Supervisors are great, some of the night shift Supervisors are green...to be expected.
Pros
Paid breaks, only work half the year, Salary
Cons
Health insurance could be better

Commscope company is a great place to work and to advance within the company to be successful in life
Forklift Operator/Material Handler (Former Employee) - Santa Teresa, NM - January 27, 2023
Commscope company is a great place to work because the management provides you with the learning tools to give everyone the opportunity to succeed by learning new skills to advance within the company. I love working at Commscope because the company focuses on the safety of the employee as well as for the safety of their customers.

Great pay, poor communication
Sr. Operator (Former Employee) - Catawba, NC - January 17, 2023
The pay is great. Benefits are good. Communication is horrible for a communications company. To move around departments or jobs, they work off of a bidding system. They often seem to make the mistake of awarding a job to you only for you to find out someone with a longer history has sweet talked their way into your new position. There are seasoned workers who've been there between 20 to 40 years, and then there are newer people that have only been there a couple of years. Training is a joke. You will be lucky to receive a month of training before they throw you out to the wolves and let you figure out how to run products you've never been trained on. Not enough training causes downtime, and you most likely will get chastised for downtime depending on management. The three 30 minute breaks are a risk rather than an actual break because there isn't anyone to cover for your line while you take one. The weekend shift has it rough when the upper management, technicians, and schedulers are off. No one knows what's going on or how to work the new technology or when the next shipment of supplies will arrive until the next weekday. Although most individuals are nice, it's plain to see there are favorites. Overall, it's a nice place to work but being a Senior Manufacturing Operator isn't worth the extra penny given the overwhelming expectations and responsibilities compared to a regular Manufacturing Operator.

Great benefits but if you are salary be prepared to work more than 40 hours a week.
Human Resources (Former Employee) - Catawba, NC - January 3, 2023
Work life balance was hard to achieve. Very few weeks were only 40 hours, most were around 55 hours. The people are friendly and nice for the most part.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Work life balance difficult

Awful.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Hickory, NC - December 21, 2022
Way too much of a work load. Expected to work so much overtime just to keep afloat. Very challenging job with very little training. Everyone is so busy that it is hard to get help with anything. Systems are NOT user friendly. They make the pay seem like it is really good, but for the amount of work and things that are required to be done it is NOT enough. Everyone is out for themselves, especially in sales. They will pin tasks on you that are not even for you to do because they are too lazy to do it. They like to throw you under the bus if you are not understanding. Very condescending and backhanded comments are constant. Not to mention a missing persons report was filed on me because I didn’t show up for one day of work lol. A sherif literally came to my house. 😂 all in all, if you’re up for being so stressed out that you go to bed crying and want no quality of life, this is def the job for you. 😇

Senior Machine Operator (Former Employee) - Claremont, NC - December 2, 2022
Good job and good money. Work is not bad for pay and advancement opportunities are there if you are active in moving up or around. Work schedule is 4 days on 4 days off.
