Work was demanding. Difficult time managing caseload for those new to the field. Some of the staff was supportive and provided assistance when needed. Had to drive clients in own car.

Various Positions Held (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCFebruary 23, 2018
Productivity requirements were high especially given the population that were provided services. The pay was terrible and on average with the rest of the nation but *not* the cost-of-living for Washington, D.C.
It was stressful and *very* few people could stay in the job and remain ethical for more than 2 years, average turn-over was less than a year.
Good benefits for provisional licensees that is not standard other places. Health benefits and retirement benefits were also exceptional.
Pros
Good benefits professionally and employment
Cons
Quick burn-out

I was out most of the day with a truck and a gas card. It was a good place to work and provided a lot of freedom to complete assignments.

Veteran & Family Employment Specialist (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCAugust 16, 2017
If more of an investment was made in their employees, turnover rate would be longer than 12-18 months. Management manages instead of leads and has a history of being quite unprofessional.
Pros
flexible schedule

Great job for someone who wants to get to know the mental health population of DC. The pay isn't great and there currently isn't a bonus or incentive program to speak of.

Making a difference in the lives you serve
Recovery Navigator (Current Employee) –  Washington, DCJuly 19, 2017
The job can be stressful if one is not organized and understanding that it cannot be done in 40 hours. Documentation and productivity are expected. The turnover is high due to the requirements. It's hard to give the clients we serve the attention needed due to high demands; however, this is the job and it is not for everyone but it can be done. Job/Life balance is tough as well. It's probably best for someone just out of college who does not have a growing family. These parameters that I have listed are for case management.
Pros
Population served
Cons
Staff that is burned out
