Great job itself. Bad company to work for.
Medical Assistant (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - February 3, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedLoved my tasks and patients and fellow MA’s I worked with. But management was bad and the company in general was unorganized and I was very underpaid. Over all, not great.
Pros
The specialty I was in
Cons
Management, low pay, no advancement

Not a bad place to work
Patient Care Coordinator (Former Employee) - Massillon, OH - April 19, 2022
I left because I wanted more opportunities for advancement. The company it's self is great, and my manager was wonderful! Front desk just wasn't exciting enough.
Pros
Mental health and personal days.
Cons
Long hours at some offices.

Dental Hygienist - Full Time (Former Employee) - Milgard - April 7, 2021
Loved working here until I had a run in with a new HR person with an obvious ax to grind. Your providers are what keep this company going. Treat them well. Also saw so much “overdiagnosing” to get payment from Medicaid. Too many cooks in the kitchen for me.
Pros
Benefits.
Cons
Poor management

Great people work here!!
Nursing (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - March 6, 2021
I see a lot of reviews about how awful it is to work here. My experience having worked here for almost 5 years is, you get out what you put in. Meaning do your job, help others, be a friend to your coworkers and they will be a friend to you; I have truly seen this. The ones that do not flourish here or end up unhappy, are only out for themselves, complain about everything, and only do the bare minimum. My suggestion about the pay is to do the above and then ask for a raise!
Pros
People!!! Job security. 1 hour lunch.
Cons
Unable to cut deadweight.

Always busy
Medical Records Clerk (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - August 9, 2020
I love the mission of the company. Pay is not to me enough for the experience and duties of my job. No yearly raises or bonuses are included. No room for growth.

Providers and Patients
Certified Medical Assistant (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - February 9, 2020
I personally enjoyed the job as a whole. I really enjoyed working with the providers I was paired with. Pay scale wasn't the greatest. Getting additional time off sometimes was difficult.

Returning Employee
Medical Assistant-Certified (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - December 29, 2019
I worked at the Lakewood Community Health Care in 2017-2018 and returned in September 2019. It was a very nice experience interviewing with the Tacoma clinic.

Horrible
Medical Assistant (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - December 26, 2019
Worst place to work. Pay is not a livable wage too much micromanagement and added stress they put on you everyday. Unable to follow union contract has to be reminded all the time they are breaking our contract. Do not care about personal lives and sometimes things happen and you are unable to show up for work and you will be chastised for it.
Pros
Great friends
Cons
Pay sucks, micromanaging, no time off

Horrible
Case Manager (Current Employee) - Hilltop - October 25, 2019
Very toxic work culture. Managers & Sr. Management are a joke. They care nothing about employees who are not providers & praise them as wrong doers. They don't follow their own policies & procedures. Racism is deep rooted in this company, & they believe in sweeping it under the rug in hopes of not having to deal with it. Horrible company to work for.

Jobs at Community Health Care
Don't apply
Medical Assistant (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - June 1, 2019
This place sucks. It takes forever to finally feel like you are part of the team. A lot of people don't seem to want to help you even when you feel like you're apart of their group. Nurses are hard to find when you need them. Sign off on a check off lost are forever long and there is no steady training to get you signed off which means you are going to constantly need to find someone to either do it for you or shadow you throughout the process. Management sucks and seems to play favorites frequently. Pay is even worse for the work load. Only good thing is the way they treat patients for the most part.
Pros
Long lunch
Cons
Everything else

Pros

Cons
Poor Pay Rates, No proven room for growth

administration not supportive
Manager (Former Employee) - Dental - April 28, 2019
My experience working at CHC is the lack of support for management. This organization is not fair to staff especially managers unless you are liked by administrators. The administration will do what they can to make you job difficult and unpleasant if your not part of their elite group. Write ups are unfair and only certain individuals get written up and others will not for the same offense. CHC will protect only certain individuals that they choose and others they will allow to fail. This is ironic because they have a team agreement but it only holds true for certain staff. This organization has a lot of backstabbing administrators that are nice to you in your face but will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat.

Cons

Excellent Place to Work
Medical Receptionist (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - April 2, 2019
I worked at CHC for about 10 months. It was a fun place to work. Everyone was nice, collaborative, and kind to me. It can be fast-paced taking a lot of calls all day, but I managed. I had to leave due to personal health issues.
Pros
Pay, Benefits, Work-Life Balance
Cons
Fast-Paced at Call Center

Has some perks, but not worth it overall.
LPN (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - March 5, 2019
This company has a lot of dysfunction. They have a policy where patients are treated with respect and dignity, but they do not treat staff that way. You are rarely recognized if you do excellent work. If you do less than average work, it takes a long time for management to intervene. My experience with managers has not been very positive. They rarely listen to feedback and do not seem to care about the day to day struggles of their employees. They have had sort of a "fend for yourself" attitude and do not step in when they should. One of our nurses had to basically step in and act as manager, because the actual manager was not doing his job.
Pros
5 day a week, 8 hour day work schedule, weekends off
Cons
Everything else

Good luck
Nursing (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - February 20, 2019
Dont do it!!! The pay sucks, management (or lack of) sucks even more, and as an MA, youre on your own unless youre part of a clique, no joke. Asking for help is like asking for a body part, seriously. Everyone is about themselves, they talk "smack" about patients as soon as they leave the room, and do bare minimum as possible. Management and the "open door policy"...ha! Sure u can go in and speak to them but that means nothing, as they gossip just as much as the MA's. As soon as you leave the office, whatever the reason was, they will sit there and turn around and start telling others your (false, btw) business. And forget about having a work/life/family balance. Seriously, DO NOT work for this "organization" that claims to have patient-centered ethic. The stress, drama and headache is NOT worth it. Unless you're ok with being treated inferiorly for $15/h. Especially the Tanbara clinic. Worked there for 5 years. What a joke.
Pros
Half-day wednesdays once a month to catch up on things (charting, stocking rooms) or just messing around like a lot do.
Cons
MANDATORY company functions, Lack of respect, everyone for themselves, NO help unless youre with the "in" crowd or speak a certain language, HIGH stress environment.

Boring job
Medical Assistant (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - February 2, 2019
Management was rude. Staff were lazy and had everyone do their job. There was a high turnover on staff quitting. Pay was about $15ish. Probation period is 6 months and they have to have you fill out a check off sheet even if you have experience. MAs work in 1 to 1 ratio and receive no help
Pros
Benfits. Hour lunch
Cons
Traveling to other sites to get trained, low pay

Family feel Company
Medical Assistant, Medical Records, Management (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - December 30, 2018
I've had a wonderful work experience here and would recommend this company to anyone, they support new to the trade employes and have a supportive trainer team to teach skills and provide a positive experience. The CEO, HR and Administrative staff make sure to interact with all employes and take time to know all employees and assist them as able.
Pros
cross training, diversity, team support, management interaction, benefits, 401K
Cons
union pay scale on the lower end

Dont do it
There needs to be a full turnover of employees at this organization from the top to the bottom. Management are not professional. They don't appear to have any experience dealing with the general population. It's all about likership not leadership at this organization. Senior leaders dont protect the employees and always take the word of the public over their own staff. Worse place I have ever worked.
Pros
Pay, benefits
Cons
toxic culture, very high turnover
