Great organization to work for
Clinician (Current Employee) –  Worcester, MAMarch 19, 2019
COMPASS is a great nonprofit community-oriented organization to work for. The CSS program provides great support to DCF involved families and provides immediate care to the families when they could potentially be on waitlists for months for other services. COMPASS provides great benefits and supports and encourages the employees to take full advantage of their career advancement through school and training, yearly safe driving bonus, Holiday bonus, and at least yearly pay raises. Management is supportive and genuine. The workplace is relaxed and provides open door policy support to all team members.
Pros
Great benefits, quick reimbursement, community-oriented, friendly and relatively fair, flexible time and schedule
Cons
long days, no designated sick time just overall PTO

Family Specialist (Current Employee) –  Dorchester, MAMarch 19, 2019
This an agency that is growing very quickly and experiencing some growing pains as a result. However, overall, it is a good place to work, particularly for this field, with supportive and fun coworkers. You are given the opportunity to be very independent and make your own schedule. There is room for growth and staff are encouraged to continue their education. The benefits and vacation time are excellent.
Pros
Benefits, vacation time, independence, great coworkers
Cons
Growing pains, inconsistent policies, favoritism

Ive worked in a lot of places and so far, COMPASS tops them all
Family Clinician (Current Employee) –  Dorchester, MAMarch 19, 2019
-37.5 hour work week
-Supervisors who care if you get burned out
-Self care committees supporting everyone in making sure you balance the stress of the work with self care
-Competitive pay
-Opportunities to start as an intern and move to clinician as you are in school
-Great benefits
-work life balance on point
-You're trusted to do your job in your own way unless you mess up and then, you are given support, not a reprimand.
The only reason I haven't refereed more friends to work here is because some people have a bias towards in home and in community work in the same way I did before I began. But after working here for some time now, I could never go back to and office job.
Pros
everything about the job, flexible hours, supervision, mileage expenses, culture, pay, community
Cons
Boston office needs significant renovations, pay could be better in the field overall but COMPASS does a good job about staying on the higher end

Pros and Cons
Family Clinician (Former Employee) –  Worcester, MAMarch 18, 2019
Pros: The company offers an incredible work/life balance if you are personally able to handle conflicting schedules and high emotional stress. Management provides adequate pay for the field and paperwork is relatively low compared to its competitors. Benefits are amazing with generous PTO and a good health insurance plan. Coworkers are generally amicable and care deeply for each other. Support from managers is often genuine and constructive. Office settings are laid back and generally convivial. Employees help train each other when they need help. Mileage and expenses reimbursed weekly. Work hours are very flexible and overtime for bachelor's level employees is offered. The best part of the job is working with family's who want help and having the love and support of coworkers and DCF.

Cons: Management keeps a close eye on its employees without transparency. This creates paranoia among some and the turn-over rate is therefore understandably high. If they can solidify their management structure, train their employees and supervisors professionally and uniformly, decrease the drive for personal gain through secrecy, higher more discriminantly, and provide a strong ethical philosophy; they'd be able to build out a more comfortable company culture, offering adequate and fair mobility, provide defined career roles, and take constructive feedback without subverted personalized hurt resulting in detrimental projection of anger. Management's pride in themselves and their selected favorites blinds them from the growth they can achieve internally.

Flexible and supportive working environment with wonderful colleagues
Family Specialist (Current Employee) –  Boston, MAMarch 18, 2019
I have been with COMPASS for about a year and truly love the flexibility of my position and supportive environment. Pay could certainly be higher, particularly with the added stress that comes with expansion, but I am very happy with provided benefits. If you feel you would thrive in an open working environment that requires a large degree of self motivation and good time management skills, I think COMPASS would provide a wonderful work environment.
Pros
Great benefits, flexible schedule, supportive co-workers
Cons
Low pay, high case load

There are so many exciting things happening at COMPASS on a daily basis, whether at its school or in its community services program. It is an extremely inviting place to work - coworkers and leadership are really supportive and eager to listen to new ideas.

Pros
flexibility, benefits, control your own schedule
