Good doesn't out weigh the bad

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Call center environment, no call center experience prior to getting hired there. Management doesn't really know much of what goes on. As they are in meetings constantly. Very little support on the floor. They state they hire within but everyone who applied and interviewed for the next position didn't get it and left. Losing alot of staff. The staff they did have there and stuck it out are great. Unless you like getting yelled at for stuff you have no control over and like trying to get people to understand something over the phone then job for you. Pay is nice but for what you do and deal with seems like you could get paid more. Management takes same training agents do bit feel like they're should be additional training for them.

Pros

Pay

Cons

Short breaks and lunches, little traing.

They really don’t care about the CSRs

They want a lot for you to be treated like dirt. They don’t really care about anyone but salesman but o my the salesman that crash the board other than that you’re a nobody.

Pros

It’s a job

Cons

They treat CSRs like dirt

Stay away from this place

The staff that is here is only here because nobody else will stay long enough for them to get fired. Expected to work 16+ hour days on salary and you never get any time back. Never get two days off in a row. Management is useless. They keep the heaters on during the summer.

Pros

None

Cons

Heater on during the summer in a warehouse, pay, coworkers

By far the worst company I’ve ever had the displeasure of slaving for

Completely incompetent managers and corporate, they have no idea how to do their jobs and all they care about are stats and numbers. They could care less if they make a sale and the customer is not satisfied they only wants more and more sales.

Pros

1 hour lunch

Cons

Everything and everyone in management, does not care about your personal life.

Horrible

This is the absolute worst place to work, this company doesn’t care about its employees. Just your typical corporate sales job, they don’t value your work life balance. And expect you to be a literal robot, you’re doomed if you work at this job. The managers are lazy and they like to practically steal from customers.

Pros

You get to experience why you should never work for this company again

Cons

Everything about this job sucks

Good financing options for customers

Commission based or $10/hr if minimum quota not met. Bring your own pens and office supplies needed. Company provides prospect leads so you can make outbound calls to bring business in. Minimum of 30 calls per shift. Blackout periods are from October - December. Hours are long. During holidays you are expected to work 6 days per week at around 9 plus hours daily. Cannot have Saturday’s off unless you are on vacation or extremely ill (with a doctors note). Only about 4 associates are scheduled to work opening shifts. All others have to close every night (10pm) which includes cleaning and organizing the entire store, changing price tags, etc. There is big time favoritism between managers and some sales associates. They mingle with them during work and outside of work they go party and drink together. To the point of allowing toxic top performers to get away with bad behavior, not following any rule that are required for rest of the team (I.e. store duties, calls and delivery follow ups, customized work schedules).

Pros

1 hour lunch breaks, call center leads, employee discount, employee stock purchase

Cons

Work life balance is non-existent for sales associates, commissions average at 2.25%, corporate does not care about front liners in the company, pay is extremely low for all the work and hours spent there, 1 week accrued vacation annual for first 5 years

Fun place

Conns gives you the opportunity to make a lot of money but it comes at a cost. Hours are long and there are only two shifts. Management is good and there’s always room to grow.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Long hours

Depressing high stress environment

Was very excited to work here after training week where we were told all these things about the benefits to working at Conn’s HomePlus and how they care about their employees to come and find out my Manager is everything OPPOSITE to what i learned. They don’t work with your schedule. They don’t listen to your suggestions. Treats everyone poorly and manages like a dictator. Work environment is super unhealthy and no one is happy to come to work. No time for a life working here.

Pros

Co-workers

Cons

Makes you more money than average but not as expected

You work 10 hour shifts and make decent money. Nothing that makes you say that’s a lot of money. Over the last couple years pay has decreased and doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop decreasing. Commissions have drops to where you have to sell more and more just to keep up with your ytd from the year prior.

Pros

Easy to sell

Cons

Decreasing commissions, no free time

Nothing.

Extra long hours, little pay, and NEVER a Saturday off. If you have a homelife with kids and a spouse, this job is NOT the job for you. Expectations are beyond reachable.

not bad

they mainly offer full time, its not a bad job just not something i dont plan on doing forever. if you like a not so fast paced environment and a good way to make easy money then this would be a good job for you, But if you’re like me and plan on working and going to school then you would have no time for that simply because there’s 2 shifts and they are both 10hr shifts 5 days a week. Its a good job but work and life balance isn’t there.

Pros

1hr break and health benefits

Cons

no schedule flexibility

Not Really Worth It

I wasn’t there for long but I was there long enough to realize they’re not all they say they are. The management team was incomplete and not easy to get along with. They did not work around personal schedules very well, including my college schedule which is the reason I quit. The management team was never on the same page and we did not even have a store manager because he quit. The sales reps were always at each other’s throats and the department heads did not run their departments correctly, nor did we have a black shirt for the furniture department. I learned nothing during training and could never make a sale because of the environment in our store and lack of customers. Said I would get a raise after the first month but I never did.

Pros

Hour long breaks

Cons

Late nights, dirty work environment

Its highschool all over again.

Dont get me wrong the environment is very laied back however the hours suck, theirs no structure, no fun, you work every holiday, every weekend and you cant get anywhere unlees you stab people in the back or in good with a manager. Also heads up if you're expecting. You don't get maternity leave. You have to use your vacation, sick, and personal time.

Pros

Hour lunch

Cons

Hour, schedule, the people

Seniority rules

Working at conns is ok nothing crazy to really get anything out of it you have to be there at all times to make sales but it’s a sales job so what do you expect. Best way to get anything done or get what you need is to have seniority unless you’re crazy good at sales and are bilingual.

You don't have a life once you work there

Once you start working there the first week they'll give you weekends off but after that first week you're there every single day and pay is $10.88 an hour plus commission but you have to keep making your quota every month and if you don't they scold you for it. You basically don't have a life once you start working for Conn's. You can't even call in for an emergency without management getting mad.

Pros

Hour long lunch

Cons

No life

Worse experience (former employee)

From the employees to to the management, there is no sense of respect. Working there was stressful and degrading of character. Having to constantly feel mistreated and overworked for the pay was not worth the fee months I worked there. I would not recommend applying, only if you want to feel stressed all the time.

Pros

Hour lunch

Stressful

Can get very demanding dealing with customers who A) don’t get their delivery B) got their delivery but the order is wrong/damaged C) went to the warehouse during open hours but they closed early D) their order gets pushed out because last minute the warehouse changes the stock available for products. Also if you start off as a porter or cashier or sales rep and become a manager they’ll give you a low salary and never a reasonable raise since you started off at a “low position”

Pros

PTO and personal holiday
