Workplace is draining to everyday life
Operations Manager (Former Employee) –  TexasSeptember 20, 2018
Going in to work everyday was very killer to life away from work. Constant calls and or texts from work to come in back to work or about some kind of issue. The best thing about it would be who you work with if you are able to make the best of it.

Customer Service Accountant (Current Employee) –  Beaumont, TXSeptember 10, 2018
I would not ever recommend this job to anyone (not even my worse enemy). Management is indecisive, policies are never followed and it’s impossible to get a raise.

Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist (Former Employee) –  Beaumont, TXSeptember 9, 2018
For the past year, I have learned these few assets that EACH department and manager pushes:

-Very little training, but wants work completed with perfection or you lose your job security

-They expect to "train" you on your weaker skills for 1 week and if you aren't using your new skills to full potential, they will give you a correction OR notify that they are/will replace you

-Favoritism upon co-workers, whether they perform better or not

-Human Resources will not help you EVER, for ANY issue and will ONLY "back" Management

-Compensation raises and Promotions ONLY given to those who never call in and are have a PERFECT track record

-Excessive negative remarks and continuous hints for loss of employment if you DO call in, whatever the reason may be. Which, doctor's notes will not help either.

On site management rocked! Senior level sucked
Manager/ Store Manager in Training (Former Employee) –  Tucson, AZSeptember 6, 2018
Upper level management sucked. They would tell you one thing and then scold you for doing it. For being in business for over 100 years, they certainly acted like they were new to retail.
Pros
Well developed store level management
Cons
Lousy DM tell you something is ok and then fire you for it.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Spartanburg, SCSeptember 4, 2018
It is not the best place to work. Management does not try to help you, nor do they really care about aggressive customers. It's ok for someone just starting out, not as a career. There really isn't much advancement as they have proven that they prefer to pull from outside companies.

PARTS CLERK (Current Employee) –  2425 Turning Basin Dr.August 27, 2018
Good luck getting a raise. Although the starting pay isn't bad for someone who is just trying to gain experience in a certain field, there is almost no opportunity to make any advancements throughout the company unless you massively exceed the expectations of management.
Pros
1-hr breaks, flexible with vacation planning
Cons
nearly impossible to get a raise

Consultative Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Albuquerque, NMAugust 27, 2018
A typical day at work never was. Either it would be very slow or very fast almost no in between. I learned a lot about the items I sold but not much about selling. Though I did already have that experience so that may be why I did not get any formal training on the subject. The management was good up until my newest boss. The hardest part of the job was the close to cold calling that we had to do.
Pros
A lot of downtime
Cons
When it was not downtime it was overtime

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXAugust 27, 2018
leadership is horrible. basically sink or swim. and if you sink, they dont care. You don’t get breaks. one hour lunch is okay. they don’t work with your schedule even tho they say “We understand life happens” they do not. throw you out on the floor to the wolves. desk areas dusty. no team work. rude agents. i suggest you don’t waste your time working or buying anything from conns. They rip you off, lie, and you end up screwed at the end with a huge bill or horrible credit

Collection Specialist (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TXAugust 26, 2018
A typical day involves high call volume in collections if your work an early stage bucket and not so much in late stage. You have a small chance for advancement. The pay is competitive with other call centers in the area. Monthly bonus potential with top performers rewarded annually. Prize giveaways almost weekly.
Pros
Pay, bonus and vacation
Cons
Not updated with equipment, software, programs

If you're 4 min late from a break you're written up. If you're 7 min late to work you're written up. Doctors excuses does not excuse call-ins. If your child's school calls and you have to leave to go get them does not stop you from getting written up. They have absolutely no understanding

Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Thornton, COAugust 23, 2018
Conn's is a great company to work for and grow. Its not easy but it is worth it. If you know how to sell the right way you really do write your own checks. I love this company and I'm always thankful they've given me an opportunity.

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXAugust 22, 2018
The departments do NOT work together there is no source of stabilization they are always switching stuff up and never informing anyone they do not have proper training in place they expect you to train the new employees without proper training yourself. There is no opportunity for advancement so don't expect any raises as they will pay the sales people to go on trips and travel etc but anyone else cannot get a raise.

Vacation Time

No raises

Alot of downtime and cleaning.
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Lufkin, TXAugust 21, 2018
Beginning of month is busy with payments. When payments are not being processed, a system of cleaning the store is required. You are left pretty much to your own endeavors and do not require supervision. The job is pretty easy as long as you are proficient with a computer and/or cash register.
Pros
No restraint on personal time needed without pay.
Cons
No breaks, only an hour lunch.
