Senior Designer (Former Employee) –  Milford, NHApril 18, 2018
I was able to get into PC Connection as an entry level graphic designer and worked my way up to Senior Designer in less than 2 years. I really like working with the photographer, writers, sales and vendors to complete projects. I had a lot of enthusiasm working there. The only reason I left was because I wanted to go back to Colorado and see what might lay ahead of me there.
Pros
great co-workers and employer

Toxic
eCommerce Marketing Manager (Former Employee) –  Merrimack, NHNovember 6, 2017
Lack of leadership or any clear strategy lead to infighting, political back stabbing, and a toxic culture. Morale was about as low as can be measured.

Growth Expectation is Aggressive, Highly Competitive Market
Corporate Account Manager - Connection (Current Employee) –  Merrimack, NHOctober 23, 2017
Employer provides benefits that should be "standard" in 2017. Health Insurance, Dental, Vision, Gym Reimbursement, 401k, Stock Options, etc.

Biggest challenge is the growth expectation, year 1 goal is reasonable and then the expectation shoots up almost 80% year over year. The company does very little to improve the work flow and internal processes that ultimately get in the way of the sale more often than not.

Either a place where you get lucky or get bored, clogged market run by bigger competition i.e CDW/SHI - or direct to Dell/Hp/etc.

Room to grow in Product Marketing, Business Development, but very few show long standing success and or growth past Senior AM in Sales.

You just need to keep your head down and do your work. It's a fast-paced environment, everyone works keeping information very close. No two days are the same.

Solid Publicly Traded Company
Buyer for federal and state government (Current Employee) –  Merrimack, NHMay 24, 2017
Connection is a solid publically traded company. The Corporate Culture is excellent. The professionalism and the collective efforts to reach common goals is amazing. The compensation however is not that good considering the size of the company.
Pros
Good benefits such as vacation, health care and insurance
Cons
Compensation is weak

Good people but high & unrealistic expectations to meet difficult goals
Account Manager (Current Employee) –  NHMay 3, 2017
While the majority of people I work with are positive, decent, dedicated and professional the culture does not provide a fair & balanced workplace for new hires to have a realistic chance of attaining the goals that employees directly involved in the hiring process tell a prospect of right up to and beyond their date of hire. Management does little to balance things, favoritism towards people related to or friends of current employees is commonplace. In less than a year many new hires grow discouraged of the actual chance of any long-term success at this company. On a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being a great place to work this organization rates a 4 or 5 at best. Due to competition from online retailers and other publicly traded re-sellers bids will not be competitive quoting on hardware unless you come in at extremely low margins to win business. This is not a good position to be in when you are trying to establish trust and relationships with people that will only know you over the phone.
Pros
Vendor sponsored breakfasts & lunches, good in-house & field support
Cons
Helicopter Management style with unrealistic expectations of most hires

Dead end place to work
Manager PMO (Former Employee) –  Schaumburg, ILApril 25, 2017
The company environment is highly toxic. Management lacks leadership skills and does not work together towards common goals.
Executive leadership is kept in the dark on issues that plague this company such as customer satisfaction, employee training, HR issues and accountability. Leadership tends to protect their own backside and foster an every person for themselves attitude.
Current leadership struggles with the ability to make even the simplest of decisions which creates an unclear direction for its employees. In relation to change or innovation, there is no desire to keep pace with the rest of the world. Change is seen as "trouble making" and not embraced by the leadership or its employees. The company acts like a start up that has run its course. I can only assume from the other reviews for the NH locations that the culture is different in other areas of the company, but as the executive leadership continues to coast with its status quo, my prediction for future success in the VAR industry is bleak.
Would not recommend this environment to others. It is not a place you can advance or grow and without the embrace of change and keeping pace with the rest of the world, you will simply become obsolete.
Pros
None
Cons
No leaership, no training, no advancement and highly stale environment.

Enjoyed working with my peers as they are your strongest support system there.
Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Merrimack, NHMarch 9, 2017
Training program was referred to by your coaches as "drinking from the firehose", clearly not well thought out as you are not retaining half of the information delivered. If you are struggling and need guidance from your manager, forget about it. They want you in your seat hitting the phones, they have no desire to coach you (they will deny this however I lived it). My "sales coach was less than competent and steered me in the wrong direction more that right direction. If you are not buddy buddy with your manager forget about getting accounts when your coworkers leave, even if you have a relationship with those clients. Favoritism is the way of life, rules are bent for some and enforced for others.
Pros
Developing relationships with clients
Cons
Lack of support and guidance from direct management

Micro Managed "Connection" is For You!!
Account Manager (Current Employee) –  Merrimack, NHFebruary 17, 2017
Connection is a very "Micro Managed" company. They listen to your phone calls behind your back as well as plugging into your phone at your desk. They scan your emails also. So, watch what you say to other co-workers. A typical day is making phone calls whether they are voice messages or not, long as you get them in. Management pays favoritism. It is, noticeable as well. Workplace culture is set up to fail. The hardest part of the job is to get the managers to help you because they are to busy helping their favorites. The best part is going home and vacation.
Pros
Going Home and Vacaton
Cons
The job in its entirety
