Most employees and attorneys fantastic except for one witch
Scheduler (Current Employee) – Fort Myers – August 30, 2018
Administration needs to supervise employees who are allowed to be verbally abusive just because they are there for awhile. Never seen anything like it where you were a daily target for abuse. Administration allowed it to continue even though other people left for the same reason.
Short breaks have to wait a year for paid time off
The whole place in general is not a great place to work for. The office manager and some people there were great and nice to you but you also have the people there that throws people under the bus so they don’t get in trouble. Some People there don’t want to do there jobs so they have the other person do their job on top of there’s. Then you have this lady that works in the Hollywood office that doesn’t know what she’s doing but because she likes to micromanage everyone she has to micromanage other offices and not let the office manager of the other office do her job without her having to always look over her back. And for the really important people that doesn’t have a clue of what’s going on in any of their offices in to wake up cause sooner or later you’re going to end up losing all the great hardworking people and end up having the people that don’t care at all about your business and it will just go to pieces.
Office services position you’re suppose to do a job and nobody will let you. They want to do their own job and come in and take over while the people that runs that department is suppose to be doing the job just sits there because everyone else just wants to do their own stuff.
You have people there that likes their job and bust their butts doing it but gets treated like a dog.
No opportunity for advancement. All about the billable hours with no understanding or caring about work/life balance or personal or life issues. Many in supervisory or management staff will undercut subordinates to promote themselves.
unreasonable expectations and lack of personal care or concern for employees
Secretary (Former Employee) – Jacksonville, FL – April 6, 2018
If you want to work like a dog in a toxic stressful environment, this is the job for you. They do not have nearly enough people for the workload but they are too cheap to hire more. They recycle EVERYTHING and you are not even allowed to order needed supplies. They reuse file folders until they are unrecognizable and falling apart. Verbally abusive, insulting associates go on frequent rampages screaming at paralegals. Support staff leave for lunch and never come back. STAY AWAY!
Attorney (Former Employee) – Hollywood, FL – January 28, 2018
The staff here seem to like it (they have all been there for years and therefore feel no need to do work), but this place is an all-around miserable hole and is run by terrible people. If you have no career ambition other than to be treated as an inconsequential drone for the next 20 years, maybe some place to consider. Otherwise, don't waste your time.
Nothing typical other than always trying to catch up. Not sure I learned anything here other than I did not want to work there. Management was from a home office mainly, the managing partner in our office was rarely there. Workplace culture, everyone was miserable and wanted to quit. The hardest part of the job was being there. The most enjoyable part was some lifelong friends that I made.
Could have been a good experience, overbearing individual notwithstanding
General Office Clerk (Former Employee) – Tallahassee, FL – August 8, 2017
Extremely formal culture and code of conduct not delineated, training lacking. Infractions treated with harsh criticism to the point of insults, such as what was done wrong (say "hold on" instead of "one moment, please") was "asinine."
Code entirely acceptable, "enforcement" not. Also, the person taking exception to my style had no flow of supervision or superiority over the position which I occupied. I was hired by the CEO assistant in another city and had no supervisor of record on site. The assistant of the lead attorney took it upon herself to criticize everything from attire to attitude to communication style without benefit of prior discussion.
Best part of job was working as the assistant to the Office Manager whose directions were clear and who used praise and hands on teaching to achieve harmonious co-production of work.
I learned about attorney information management, high-speed scanning of files into electronic management system and use of portal to Florida Courts
No matter how many hours you bill, its not enough. Several attorneys were brought from South Florida (where everything is controlled) and they were very rude and egotistical. Associate attorneys are treated poorly.
This was the type of firm that was only for those who is willing to not have much interaction at work. The people appeared friendly but had agendas against your success. I worked there for 2 years and was relieved when it was over
company lunches sometimes
they need to work on an environment that is friendly to other races
Paralegal (Former Employee) – Orlando, florida – December 19, 2016
I worked here a long time over 15 years when they decided to close down our division with less than a weeks notice. I was severely overworked working 7 days a week many times plus doing a lot of no billable work in the evening. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I could never make any of the attorneys happy. Each wanted something different so nothing was consistent. They hired very inexperienced attorneys to handle complex cases so there was always something being seriously messed up that had to be fixed and most of the time I was unable to bill for that which would have been ok except I had a very high billable hour requirement so there was no room to do no billable tasks. There was never enough support.
Overworked, lack of support, lots of work with very slow computer system, no employee loyalty
