I was told 2 to 3 weeks after the interview. My interview was 3 weeks ago but no answer has been given. My guess is that it depends on the position, political climate, and motivation/work ethic of HR. The process is annoying long and County has timelines on when they announce positions and hire people. I was a contractor with them for about a year and the onboarding process was rushed for our project but still slow. It took a month to a month and a half longer for us to onboard staff because of the County. I heard people state from the time they applied to their start date it was a year or longer. It is easier to get in as a contractor with the option to apply internally. Government in general is slow with their hiring but the County is the worst. They move slower than the state of IL, VA, and federal government because there is a culture of laziness and unnecessary red tape for decisions as simple as ordering a stapler.

Good to bad depending on the department you work in. Be careful who you report or what you report you might end up getting into trouble. System dosen't resolve anything only covers up. Cook County is not ready for positve change.
