Don't waste your time
Leasing Consultant (Former Employee) –  West Palm Beach, FLApril 16, 2018
Management doesn't know what they are doing and are all over the place as far as renovations go. I wouldn't work for this company again and wouldn't recommend it for a tenant either.

A typical day work entails checking with time members to get outstanding tickets and work orders completed for tenants by order of importance. Maintain order on property and complete ordering of inventory of property.

Upper managment
Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Dallas, TXFebruary 24, 2018
The Workload is stressful and corporate is quick to point the finger instead of fixing the situation. There is a person in corporate that treats people horribly. If you can handle a heavy workload and stressful enviroment the pay is good and you may get promoted even if you arent ready.
Pros
Pay and benefits
Cons
Work load and upper managment

Placing blame on others
Maintenance Supervisor (Current Employee) –  TexasFebruary 16, 2018
Managers place blame on others for there bad decisions instead of taking responsibility and there for you will get wrote up for there mistakes. Even if you can prove it, that don't matter as they won't apologize for not investigating first before they act as now the upper management would look bad for wrongfully writing up someone. Also short staffed for long periods of time and yet you are expected to still manage the work load and if you beg long enough they will finally get people to help. You aren't given the tools to succeed even though they have support people to help but that is just a PR stunt cause all they do is put you under the complainer column.
Pros
Cortlands owner and his values
Cons
Upper management dont reflect the owners values

Renovation project was difficult to work with construction.
I learned that the construction team is not very truthful.
Too much turnover.
Culture is spot on. Needs better execution.
Hardest part of job is not having the autonomy to utilize skills.
Most enjoyable is working with senior citizens.

Great company with poor Florida upper management
Assistant Project Construction Manager (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FLDecember 27, 2017
Cortland practices their core values very strongly. They truly care about the employees and their residents. The most enjoyable part of going to work every day, hands down is the people. During the interview process you have to take multiple of tests to ensure you will meet their standards. I strongly stand by this company and hope current roles gets straightened out as the moral has gone down.

Communication is a key to work on that company.
Had a great experience putting back on track a property that was visible badly administrated.
Pros
chance to work on great, challenging projects, good pay and benefits, hard working place
Cons
Too many people trying to be the Boss which could be described as : 'too many hands in the jar'

Lead Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Kingwood, TXDecember 12, 2017
The properties are nice and the pay is decent, the problem is its 2017 and you still have to deal with systematic racism whether you are an employee or minority resident. You see a lot of unfair treatment and wrongdoing but you have to play the game if you want to remain employed or live in peace as a resident. All the owner cares about is money and his assets, the people who makes his money comes last. Donating pennies or a few millions as a tax write off don't make you a good individual, treating everyone fair does.
Pros
pay is decent
Cons
very unfair job enviroments

Leasing Consultant (Current Employee) –  Marietta, GADecember 11, 2017
I enjoy the flexibility and competitive pay/ commission. Working at Cortland Partners will nurture your people skills which is a great skill to have if you're into sales, team building, or even looking to go as far as becoming a sales trainer. There are so many different personalities you would have to deal with as a leasing consultant, and so many residents needs. If you enjoy helping and serving people than this can be the job for you. The bonus is the competitive pay. Commission will always beat out an hourly offer for me.
Pros
Commission.
Cons
Work environment constantly changes, and you will have to adjust to new management often.

The best thing about working for Cortland was fellow employee"s. The property I worked on was run down and falling apart. It was hard and stressful to keep it maintained.

A Joke
Leasing Consultant (Former Employee) –  Columbus, OHOctober 8, 2017
Cortland needs to stop worrying about expanding and focus on their current properties. The renovation jobs are sloppy and rushed. There is no communication in the company (or at least they fail in their attempts to communicate)

Senior Talent Acquisition Recruiter (Contract) (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GASeptember 12, 2017
Cortland knows how to hire top talent! Great individuals to work alongside. Long hours are expected, but the company has a strong base of like-kind individuals who are hard working, autonomous, and passionate about exceeding expectations.

Cortland has great benefits. Its a hard working but fun environment. The pay is not that great, and management in the Accounting department needs training. I would definitely recommend Cortland as long as you do not have plans to working in Accounting.
