When I worked for Country Fair there were no sick days. If you called off you were not paid. IF you accumulated too many call offs the store manager would cut your hours.

Theres two for me. When you have WAY too much to do. And its only you and one other person on the shift. And its a very busy day.
Or when you get an irate customer. As a manager, employees run to me in those situations.
