Eligibility Worker II (Former Employee) - Compton, CA - May 25, 2023
Compton district 26 was one of the most greatest place to grow and be a part of for 25 years. Our district directoris the best ever. If I could do it all over again I would.
Pros
Great benefits and opportunity to grow within the company

Slow Advancement
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Administrative Services Manager II (Former Employee) - Norwalk, CA - May 8, 2023
While there are a lot of benefits provided to those who work for the County, it is very competitive and limited opportunities to advance. Lots of nepotism.

A secured job
Eligibility Worker II (Current Employee) - Compton, CA - May 6, 2023
It is a good place to work for. You are always notified of new transfer positions if you don't like what you are doing. They offer the best benefits package you can have. The pay is not the best though.

I was only a minority American, I felt lonely most time.
Clerical Assistant (Former Employee) - Norwalk, CA - May 2, 2023
Job environment was very busy, and stressful. I can say I need more English skills, and computers at that time. I had to park in the parking structures on 3rd floors, and I had to walk 20 minutes to get to the work. It was not worthy to continue to work there with only minimum pay.
Pros
I am an organized person, I enjoyed filing.
Cons
Short break time, no benefits. So just quit.

It's okay
HPA (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - May 1, 2023
Very unorganized. The medical director doesn't really listen to what employees have to say. We don't have a set place for his to reside on and doesn't want us to work from home

Workplace not what it was made out to seem
Intermediate Clerk (Former Employee) - Van Nuys, CA - April 30, 2023
At the interview the job sounds great, sounds like exactly what I was looking for . When it was time for me to start and I did so I was under the impression that I’d switch into the schedule after training but apparently that wasn’t the agreement and they couldn’t adjust my time 30 to prevent me being late after all adjustment I made to accommodate them

Nepotism and Potlucks
Child Support Specialist (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - April 28, 2023
Promoting depends upon who you know and are willing to stab in the back. Micromanagement to the tenth power. But you will get paid just enough to not qualify for low income housing. Good potlucks though.

A learning experience
Weed Abatement & Pest Control Management (Former Employee) - Los Angeles County, CA - April 23, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? To be able to say I was a County Worker What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The training was terrible. They stuck me with the top of top, best of the best workers who had 20 plus years on me, and expected me to be like them in 4 months, without a lick of English in their vocabulary, because of that they could never move forward in their career What is the work environment and culture like at the company? One had to feel like walking on egg shells all the time as the new guy What is a typical day like for you at the company? Hard, sweaty, and not worth the pay for what I did with the best of the best

I never want to go back.
Epidemiologist/Data Monitor (Former Employee) - Remote - April 19, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The pay. I went to the job for a salary raise and the benefits are good. Pay raises occur annually until you max out. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The people. It’s a bunch of egos and drama. People are dishonest and controlling and titles decide what gets done, not who has the best idea. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It depends on the team. Some are quite nice and others are dysfunctional. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I was either underworked or overworked. You rarely have balance, and management is overly beholden to the Board of Supervisors, grants, and entrenched staff

CSW (Current Employee) - Pasadena, CA - April 18, 2023
High caseloads little support. As a social worker you are expected to manage every minor detail for the children, parents, foster parents, court, etc. high #turnover

Great benefits/horrible work-life balance
Children's Social Worker (Former Employee) - DCFS - April 11, 2023
Depending on the Department, you can often end up working well over 10 hours a day. Management rarely seemed to care about employees’ work/life balance. Advancement often depended on office politics.
Pros
Benefits
Cons
Advancement and moving around

The company is productive but needs some in improvement.

You're part of the registry and no clients calls you for work because you leave a client that's very hostile to deal with and likes to make you work over your hours. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The Registry likes to make sure the Latino are working and gets the best hours. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Come in start my day cleaning and changing the client out of soil urine. Cleaning the home , laundry, errands, and cooking.

Secretary Assistant (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - March 7, 2023
Love my job. My boss is great, benefits are great, no complaints whatsoever. My employer made it easy for me to balance my work and home life when my kids were younger. I appreciate that. ❤️

Great experience
Social Worker (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - February 25, 2023
Experience is great and definitely opportunities for growth. Management doesnt provide good support to employees but there are some good supervisors who are understanding. Pay could be better.

With everything I know now I feel you need discernment and focus to work in this kind of environment.
Intermediate Typist Clerk (Former Employee) - Lancaster, CA - February 24, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Benefits are great but theirs a lot of propaganda that exists so be careful sometimes the benefits are not worth the stress. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lots of unprofessionalism among the staff dealing with other colleagues and the public. Management not working and following guidelines lots of favortism. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Hostile, abusive , profanity being used on a regular basis with colleagues. Work is not of essence gossip and other malicious tactics are more important than serving the community.

Secretary III / Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA 90012 - February 11, 2023
County is a Great Place to work and transfer to different areas in the County. The only draw back with the County is they work you until your fingers fall off. If you know the right people- you get promoted quickly. I am speaking for myself - maybe someone else has had a different perspective. I have worked for the County for 38 years. For me, nothing has changed.
Pros
Learn different departments
Cons
It’s not what you know - but whom.
