Secure working environment
Transcriptionist (Current Employee) - Remote - June 22, 2022
I work on transcription tasks at least 8 hours a day at CS. I've learned to be a good listener. The management needs improvement on customer service. The workplace culture improves listening skills. The hardest part of the job is getting no tasks on the work dashboard. The most enjoyable part of the job is working on audible HITs.
Pros
Bonuses
Cons
Seasonal jobs.

Poorly managed company, low pay, but fun side gig
Transcriptionist (Current Employee) - Lacey, WA - March 26, 2022
The job is typing captions for the deaf/hard of hearing. It's a fun and interesting job, but some of the audio is atrocious so you will need good headphones. Unfortunately, the company is poorly managed and they allow some truly awful workers in who do horrible transcripts that the good workers have to clean up later, making the good worker's pay lower because they're paid by the piece, not the hour. Great business model, huh? The biggest downside of this job is the low pay. It's way under minimum wage. Some workers who have been at this for years do make some money at it, but management has been cutting the bonuses so those good workers are slowly dropping away. My takeaway: Only do this as a fun side gig.
Pros
flexible hours, interesting work that benefits others
Cons
Extremely low pay

really good company not so good pay though!
Transcriber (Current Employee) - Abuelo, NM - January 28, 2022
I really liked the company the only issues I had is it hard to get through and a little difficult to join, and the minimum wage pay of 12$/hour isn't so exciting but for the audio hours are as few as 20 seconds to 10 mins, which makes the job quite easier and I love working from home gives me the opportunity to do other things and have time for myself personally overall it's a good company!:).
Pros
A good work environment can be fun! Lots of jobs to do, not, difficult to start the job, and amazing support:)
Cons
not so good pay as 12 dollars an hour!

Heavy Workload - Not Enough Support
Employee (Former Employee) - All Offices - February 24, 2021
Working Hours are non existent. Management preaches balance and respect for the team's time but doesn't practice it. Staff turnover is consistently high due to heavy workloads, not enough support, and poor management. Pay isn't competitive and commensurate with the job duties. Company is a great place to network and gain more skills. If you choose to work here do not expect boundaries or to advance into a new position, the only way to move up at Crowd Surf is if someone were to leave or be fired. I highly recommend considering all options before dedicating your time and efforts here. It is not for everyone!
Pros
Working with big clients in the music industry, gaining more skills, networking
Cons
Low pay, long hours, heavy workload, no support, poor management

poorly ran company
Marketing Intern (Former Employee) - Hollywood, CA - March 12, 2020
Crowd Surf is poorly run and survives off the backs of unpaid interns. The upper management is so concerned with their own status and ego that they fail to recognize the talent of their under appreciated and uncompensated employees.

The work is always there but not a way to make anything but gas money
Transcriptionist (Current Employee) - Remote - December 20, 2019
The work is always there but not a way to make anything but gas money. You can log on almost anytime of the day and there is work to do. You only get paid a few cents per 20 second insert.

Just okay.
Transcriptionist (Current Employee) - Remote home - October 23, 2019
The program is easy to maneuver. You have to check in every day because they do not send emails for work. Wish pay was a bit more. The available work varies. Wish it was more steady.

Good work place and good culture
Publicity Assistant (Contract work) (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN - September 9, 2019
People were good to work with, it was a cool workplace. I started out as an intern in the publicity department which at the time was completely sectioned off from the marketing department so there was a lack of communication between the departments.

good place to learn
Publicity Intern (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - July 18, 2019
Crowd Surf was a great learning experience and everyone was nice. However, I wish people interacted more and that those higher up (so everyone besides the interns) made an effort more and weren't so intimidating to approach at times. I wish I could have been more involved and hands on. But, like I said, it was a good learning experience and I did get to work on some projects.

Such a fun group of people, 10/10!
Digital Marketing/Social Media Intern (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - April 2, 2019
I worked in the Hollywood office of CrowdSurf as a marketing intern for a few weeks before they promoted me to Marketing Assistant to finish out the summer in the Culver City office, along with completing my intern hours in Hollywood. Every single person I worked with between the two LA offices were amazing and fun. We would sometimes take lunch breaks to walk down Hollywood Blvd and take a quick shopping trip so the managers could get to know us interns. We had access to a Keurig and fridge for our own meals, and most employees worked with headphones in or with a loud speaker playing current music. Sometimes the manager would even bring in his dog! I hated when my time ended due to completion of internship hours because I would be more than happy to continue my career at CrowdSurf.
Pros
Music allowed, fun culture, fun people, good hours

Best in the business
Marketing Director (Current Employee) - Hollywood, CA - March 8, 2018
Most competitive digital marketing agency in the business. Very hands on team with on the job training and lots of support from upper management. Lots of opportunities to work face-to-face with artists.

Contract Transcriber
Freelance Transcriptionist (Current Employee) - online - February 21, 2018
I have been a contract transcriber with them for over a year and the pay is super low. You get paid per task which is around $0.10 each task. You have to be quick and patient. There are ways to advance to make a little more but even from talking with others who contract with Crowd Surf, they say that the pay is not that great. It is something to do for a little bit of play money but is not a career place by any means.
Pros
Work when ever you want
Cons
low pay

Great opportunity for an Hourly positition.
Marketing Assistant (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - May 14, 2015
If you're willing to put in the work, this is a great place. I got in as an intern and was lucky enough to be hired on part time while I finished school. Provided great opportunity to get real experience while still being very flexible with my schedule.

Exciting environment
Intern (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - January 7, 2015
I love being an intern at Crowd Surf. I learned so much more than I expected. As a person who grew up using social media, I thought that I knew all about it, however I was mistaken. I now know how to use twitter for analytical purposes, rather than just hashtags. I loved helping out with events and being involved in the company.
