Normal working hours weekly as a full time pharmacist are 10 hour days excluding weekends and holidays (8 hour days on weekends and holidays). There is an on-call obligation for all pharmacists for the main inpatient hospital on scheduled evening shifts and on scheduled weekends. There is also a travel obligation involved to the outpatient facility in West Akron daily for a pharmacist scheduled in the morning on weekdays, and to company satellite facilities in the Akron area for site inspections every month. Duties for the pharmacist at the outpatient facility are somewhat labor intensive including surgery tray filling, narcotic and medication order receiving and reconciliation, and also Pixis machine filling. As a pharmacist, you are also required to take out the trash at the outpatient facility on an as needed basis. Recently, there has been a patient counseling requirement instituted for all inpatients at the Akron inpatient facility prior to discharge which is a positive aspect of the job.
