Behavioral Health Facility
Intake Counselor (Current Employee) –  DeSoto, TXMay 30, 2018
Speaking to others that have come from different behavioral health/mental health hospitals, this facility provides one of the better experiences. However, it is a behavioral health facility. People are often admitted that don't necessarily stand to benefit from the treatment provided based on their diagnosis. Due to method of arrival and some behaviors exhibited in the facility, not what I would consider a safe place to work. Infighting between departments often present making producing a quality service difficult, or not impossible to provide.
Pros
Free lunch, good benefits
Cons
Not what I would consider safe

Multiple turn over of Management
RN (Former Employee) –  DeSoto, TXApril 30, 2018
Too much turn over of management. No consistency. Pay scale was fair. Grateful to HR manager for hiring a new nurse with no experience and letting me grow into the position.

The employees are great and the job is rewarding. Would recommend... There are activities for employees and incentives. Rangers tickets, movie tickets, shirts, turkeys, Christmas give a ways...

Good place
RN (Current Employee) –  Dallas, TXFebruary 23, 2018
I've worked at two other psych hospitals. and those other places were truly unsafe, super stressful (more than your normal stress of working in a psych unit) and poor management. Dallas Behavioral has a team that is not afraid of getting in there and helping despite your role or position, that is what I have seen.
Pros
Work in conjunction with others
Cons
more training

Hard work but the team makes it fun. I like working here. It can be stressful but pysch is a fast moving type job. It is a good place to work, especially compared to some of the others pysch hospitals I've worked at.
Pros
Free lunches

Mental Health Technician (Former Employee) –  DeSoto, TXDecember 7, 2017
Run, run, run, run. Not a good place to work. Not a good place to work AND GROW. If you are looking for a place to rise to the top in your career goals, this is definitely not the place for you.
Cons
Prejudice.

Management is horrible with no advancement unless you are from El Paso
Intake Specialist (Former Employee) –  DeSoto, TXDecember 1, 2017
First off the training was horrible. It was a throw you in to the wolves and see if you make it. The managers are all cliquey and if you are outspoken on anything thing against them, they will find a way to get rid of you or make your job a living h—-. There is not enough employees and often you have to work by yourself especially in intake. None of the managers, ceo, cfo, etc have any type of mental health degree, license, or anything dealing with this type of facility. No work life balance.

It is an interesting workplace that could be better, if adequately staffed and employees have more support, protection, and encouragement from management.

Poor Management
Financial Counselor II (Current Employee) –  DeSoto, TXOctober 5, 2017
The management is poor and they do not invest in their employees or their facility. The accommodations are below standard and not up to code. No stability when it comes to hours they are cut depending on the daily census.

Several Opportunities
Employee (Current Employee) –  Dallas, TXMay 13, 2014
The work environment is professional and provides several opportunities to learn. Co-workers are always willing to work as a team. The most difficult part of the job pertains to management and adjusting to the various desires that can sometimes change daily, though are not always communicated fully.
Pros
Opportunities to learn and small staff numbers
Cons
Management expectations not being conveyed effectively
