Management Team too young and inexperienced
Product Specialist (Former Employee) –  PAMarch 30, 2018
Biggest complaint is that basic employee relations are ignored. This is fine if you are "in" the inner circle. If not, you are scapegoat bait without warning or recourse.
Pros
free summertime lunches
Cons
Sr and mid-level managers have had ZERO management training-just promoted. New hires beware!

You Can Write Fortran In Any Language
Software Developer (Former Employee) –  Chesterbrook, PAMay 30, 2019
... as the old saying goes. Deacom is proof that you can write Visual Fox Pro in any language. They might be using "Xamarin and C# 8.0 features," but it's with an archaic code base that was mangled just enough for a modern C# compiler to digest it. It's a Jurassic Park of design patterns that deserved to go extinct, and these dinosaurs can only be contained in classes that span over 10000 loc in some cases.

Employees are discouraged to think outside the box and find new solutions to industry challenges. The aforementioned code base is so massive and fragile that a culture of fear has spread around making anything other than the most superficial changes possible.

There are a lot of whiteboards, and the wi-fi almost works in most of the conference rooms.

Engineers are given the freedom to pursue the design that most resembles what is already there.

Flextime policy: take the time you arrived and add 9 hours to find out when you can leave that day. You're going to take an hour long lunch whether you want to or not -- it's compulsory.

Job security is terrible to the point of recklessness. Employees can be and are terminated without cause or notice, given a minimal token severance, and treated like pariahs when they are forced to pack up their effects. Perfectly legal, but you should ask yourself if that's a risk you're willing to take before you apply.
Pros
swag, free lunch friday
Cons
rigid scheduling makes days longer, at whim employment, archaic technology

Deacom gives me both the quick pace feel that I crave and also the family feel from all of the employees. Great benefits and opportunities to advance based off of your hard work and not tenure.
