Very stressful place to work
Transportation Security Officer (Current Employee) –  USAOctober 12, 2019
These people are the worse. Don't want you using your sick time at all, thankless job, the only time they talk to you is to reprimand, never commanding you for doing job, no flexibility or consideration for families or single parents with small kids. The worst place I've ever worked in my entire life.

Deputy CISO (Current Employee) –  Washington, DCOctober 10, 2019
Less understanding about newer technology, people in terms of offering flexibility of employment, and inability to grasp talent. This is only for certain components of DHS and is not a reflection of Headquarters.

Not ok
Transportation Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Omaha, NEOctober 7, 2019
Management wanted and seeked to get employees in trouble. Actually heard them talking about it. Your job was threatened during daily morning meetings. If you did not perform well on critiques you were literally walked out the door.

Transportation Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXOctober 5, 2019
Everchanging work environment, fast pace, high stress and processing an average of 15,000 passengers a work shift. Deal with a very mico managed work culture. Minimum room for error, three strikes your out work structure.

Transportation Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Columbus, GAOctober 3, 2019
We are always training and running drills to improve our team. From finding tips on items to practicing active shooters drills. Good Training. Waking up early to run split shifts. Returning later in the day to ensure the traveling public is safe.

Depends on management
Lead Transportation Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Bangor, ME 04401October 2, 2019
I am not talking about it positively or negatively. f management doesn't like you or your supervisors, they will take every opportunity to get you out. The job security isn't promised, its easy to make a mistake even when your vigilant. If ever you are pulled into the office everyone will know about it because management and the supervisors make it very obvious. Working with a team will be enjoyable at times but don't trust that your team has your back. Great pay/benefits but that's really all.

Good Luck!
Transportation Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Newark, NJOctober 1, 2019
Meeting and interacting with new people from all different walks of life was great but sometimes stressful.

MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE. Be prepared to have someone looking over your shoulder 24-7.

TSA policy at the airport is ridiculous, there are things that they do that I just did not agree with.

If you have a family or are a single mother, be prepared to choose which one is more important.

Those people do not care about you!
Pros
Pay, benefits, diversity, opportunity for advancement
Cons
Management, no flexible schedules, ridiculous policies
