An awesome place to work.
Learned many new skills. The quality of management and the workforce varied widely. The hardest and most satisfying part of the job was learning new skills. The most difficult and frustrating part of the job was attempting to solicit the contribution of many disengaged staff on projects.
Pros
Good pay, benefits, and job security.
Cons
Poor work culture.

At the DOJ in Brownsville, the working environment was very hostile. Office manager used favouritism when new openings were available.
The only good thing I can say about DOJ were the benefits of working under contract. The security staff was amazing. Criminal employees were terrible. It's like everyday swimming in a shark tank.

Diversity in work load.
I worked a variety of cases having to do with employee misconduct to grant fraud. Each case was different and interesting in it's own way. I had the support of my office and the administration.

An awful place to work if you are the miniority...
Don't you dare stand up for yourself. Don't you dare help others understand that they have rights to be there to support their family like others that get off with bullying you... because if you dare to stand up for yourself and rights you'll be labeled as crazy... and even worse you'll be set up for failure.

Nice people
I enjoyed working there. The job was simple and fun. I stayed busy and never bored. Working with FBI files and inmates files was interesting and a learning experience.

You need very thick skin , keep an open mind on things and be fair and consistent when working with inmates and staff ; they will try and play both sides . Good luck 😊

Na
Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Everyone wants to be the boss, but no one wants to put in the work for the ship to run smoothly. Keep to yourself and know your audience.

Was a great place to work 30 years ago
Everyone in the sections I worked in worked very well together, from the section chief down to the secretaries and paralegals. I enjoyed working at the DOJ and have very fond memories of the Antitrust Division.
Pros
Relaxed, encouraging work environment.
Cons
Low raises and little advancement opportunities.

Enjoyed my employment with Department of Justice. Great place to work, not too stressful. Nice perks such as great benefits, paid time off, and paid sick time.
