I worked for about a year in 1991 1992 at the East Orange VAMC in New Jersey and Wasa particularly hard time for me . There was a lot of prejudice against Latinos and other minorities. I hope nowadays things have changed and is a better place to work.. I witness and suffered the rejection and mockery . I hope that has changed

As an RN, I used to love going to work 2 years ago, until staff started to leave and the units became understaffed. Now I get stressed just thinking about going to work the next day whether there’s enough staff in the work unit or I would be so understaffed again, and not being able to finish all of the things I needed to do just because I just need to survive a single work day keeping my patients safe until I get off my shift!

More generation x, group related communication, generation gaps between ages and military and civilian ethics, being the only Black in the department I had to make or go beyond my personal exceptions based on color and affiliation and baby boomer generation in order to be accepted as a team player or already established culture behavior.
