I love helping people. As a technical person I often found myself frustrated by trying to support an odd combination of somewhat advanced proprietary software and and COTS applications that frequently go down and often do not work well together. I also found myself constrained by the VA's overwhelming fear that you cannot allow level 1 agents to fix relatively simple issues by placing administrator rights requirements on the most basic of tasks. Having permission restrictions is essential in any enterprise support situation, but the VA carries permissions and protections too far in many cases. For example: Requiring Tier 1 agents to escalate a ticket to Tier 2 for something as basic as changing a file format association that got messed up is totally unnecessary and wastes time and resources.
