DiBella’s began in 1918 as a corner grocery store located in Rochester, NY. The small family-run business operated successfully for many years, focusing on providing quality and value consistently. Gradually, DiBella’s evolved into an Italian import store and deli, specializing in serving its customers high quality cold cuts, cheeses and olives. Eventually, DiBella’s moved away from imports and began to focus more closely on old-time baking techniques. Thus, the DiBella’s submarine sandwich we have become famous for was born.
Our philosophy is simple: At DiBella’s Old Fashioned Submarines, we believe it’s not just one thing that makes our sub special. We start with bread baked at our in-house bakery, not once a day, but throughout the day. This guarantees that no matter what time you stop at DiBella’s, your sub will be served on the freshest roll you’ve ever tasted. We use old-time baking techniques, taking the time to make each roll to a standard that would only be found in an old-fashioned corner bakery. As delicious as this roll is, it only becomes a great submarine sandwich when we custom prepare it for you using the highest quality of meats, cheeses and condiments to complement your choice of toppings.
We are a small family business that has grown and is still growing. In the last decade, we have opened a total of 36 DiBella’s locations in Western New York, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Indianapolis Indiana, Michigan, and multiple markets in Ohio.
As our business expands, we continue to offer old-fashioned quality and value, just as the DiBella’s did back in 1918. Our business has become what we are today, because each one of our managers takes pride and ownership in DiBella’s. Our success is reflected in the cleanliness of our restaurants; we provide a unique casual atmosphere, reminiscent of a 1940’s NY style corner sandwich shop. We deliver fast and friendly service, always providing a quality product. As we grow, we will continue this DiBella’s tradition: to provide a good old-fashioned experience, based on a fresh, quality product, a friendly face to serve you and a value for your dollar.
Everything that we are and do reflects our old-fashioned values. These qualities are what make the difference between an ordinary sub and a DiBella’s sub. – less
