Stressful
Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Gainesville, FLJuly 30, 2018
You have the ability to make good money at this company, if you're willing to kill yourself for it.

SALES, SALES SALES... that's really all they care about.

Fellow technicians that don't do their jobs completely, leaving you to bring things up to code when you get there are a HUGE issue. And informing managers about repeated shoddy work (with proof) does nothing to improve this.
Pros
Gas card, van
Cons
Long hours, unorganized management, stressful

installer/trainer (Former Employee) –  Gainesville, FLMay 26, 2018
Just do your job and you will enjoy the job. There will be times that you want to leave because of having to dig a extra long trench but it’s better than 90% of the jobs out there and you will meet so many amazing people.
Pros
Company truck, company phone, has paid for many more
Cons
Some days you have to pick up jobs in the evening because a tech decides he wants to work slow

Not a good company at all. Period.
Inventory Associate (Former Employee) –  Port Saint Lucie, FLApril 14, 2018
Overworked, Underpaid. Under appreciated. Always been one to never take constructive critismn personal and always look at things from a professional business prospective. Was hired as an "inventory associate" But the pressure, duties and responsiblities were that of a warehouse manager. The average salary for a warehouse manager is alot higher than they are willing to pay therefore titling the position "inventory associate" You will notice quickly that the tech, office and corporate personel are very disrespectful and irresponsible and you have to answer for all of they're mistakes because noone takes accountability. Business is business but I've seen a lot of good workers with great work ethic that have families to feed get cut because of the added requirements of sales when they were all hired as cable technicians. I've seen a lot of guys with great intentions for the company who have done they're dues and put in years of servitude quit because of the lack of faith and commitment to the employees. In my position I was able to forsee the politics in all departments and it's disgusting. Ive heard upper corporate management even speak down and direspect the companys name and express how bad they want out and not just one or even two. The reviews on here and glassdoor are very real and it seems the company would rather play dumb and respond in denial about any complaint but its just the way it is. DRS has alot to learn and they will not last as a company mark my words.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything

Unrealistic daily quotas and extremely long hours for low pay
Field Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Port Orange, FLApril 11, 2018
The job was very demanding yet somewhat rewarding as you were given a route to serve satellite customers with company provided vehicles and tools. The daily quotas were unreasonable and turnover was frequent.
Pros
Company van and tools provided
Cons
Bad management. Unreal quotas

Stressful, fast paced, poor management
Field Service Technician (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FLMarch 19, 2018
No quality of management. Managers always boast about how helpful they are when they do nothing but sit in the office on their phones. Work schedule was very inconsistent and could work 30 hours one week and 75 the next. Inventory was poorly kept track of and almost never available. Too much is asked from techs and the compensation is way too little but decent for the area.
Pros
Pay is ok. Independent work atmosphere.
Cons
Short breaks. Poor management. Extremely hot and frigid cold work atmosphere. Work holidays.

Low pay for what you do.
Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Tampa, FLJanuary 25, 2018
This is hard work. No doubt about it. Just wish you compensated employees better. After all the hours and time you out in. You average bout 12-15$ hour. Keep in mind you are also a salesperson. It is required. It is in your metrics. Meaning if you don't sell their overpriced junk, you're gone. You are not paid what you are worth. Training pay is only 10$ hour btw for you new guys. So for the first month you get peanuts. Management is relaxed. Not a lot of micromanaging. Unless you fail your metrics. Then they are on you like white on rice.
Pros
Take home van. Company cell phone. Little micromanaging.
Cons
Long hours. Bad pay. Sales required as a technician.

Sales sales sales.
Field Service Technician (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJanuary 14, 2018
Pay can increase or decrease every 3 months depending of your sales and quality numbers. If you don't meet sales requirements, nothing else matters, you will only make the lowest pay level. Technicians are encouraged to take advantage of customers by selling extra products that they do not need. This is really the only way to meet the required $20 per customer expectation. It's a shame really. This was a great job before they started pushing sales.
Pros
Vehicle, gas card, benefits
Cons
Dishonest sales culture

Horrible Job
Master Technician (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FLSeptember 30, 2017
This job is billed as being a "technician", when in reality you are being hired to do in-home sales of Dish branded peripheral equipment, which your success in is a measured metric that directly affects your pay and even your continued employment. You are expected to work 12 to 14 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week, year-round. Pay is piece-rate, so you get paid the same $25 to do a service call that takes 5 minutes as a service call that take 9 hours.
Pros
company truck, tools, gas card
Cons
everything else.
