Tournament Consultant in Pittsburgh, PA

So far, I really enjoy working for Dixon Golf. I was burned out in my previous healthcare career and was looking for something where I could still help others, but have flexibility in my schedule and make some extra money. The focus of the position is to build relationships with the charities to assist them in their golf tournaments. Most of these contacts want our assistance as we can save them time and money with the resources the company offers. Empathy is important when speaking with the clients as most of the events are a way to raise money for someone in need. I feel a true sense of satisfaction in being able to help these charities raise money. We are 1099 contractors and are compensated by commission for items that the company can provide, but the products we offer are something the contacts usually purchase for an event anyway (golf balls, hole-in-one policies, etc.). There is a SurePay system recently put into place with a point system that is helpful to those just starting out that do not have a client base yet to depend on commission pay. Consistency is key. Need to be disciplined especially in following up with clients. A lot of support is offered during training and throughout. Weekly conference calls are given by management to focus on certain aspects and provide encouragement and advice. Overall, I am impressed with the vision & purpose of this company and proud to be a part of it.

It's just awesome. I get to sit at home and work and on the weekends I get to go to golf courses and work. It's good money during the on season but off season not so much.

This job is great, there are pros and cons to it but the pros outweigh the cons this far. For instance the work is remote, on the phone, building relationships. I love the conversations I have with people on a daily basis. My job is to help charities to make as much money as possible at their events, I take pride in that. I’m not selling anything, I’m not handcuffed with policies or procedures. Dixon empowers you to run your own business, I’m a 1099 contractor not a W-2 employee. So with that, my success rides on what I put into the position. Discipline and consistency are vital to success. The job isn’t really that difficult to learn. There are scripts to reference depending on how close to events you are.Overall, I’ve not made much money yet. 2 months in, I’m still building relationships and calling a lot of charities every day. Golf season hasn’t picked up yet, but as of now I’m optimistic about the future with this company.

Great opportunity to make some part-time money supporting charities and the environment. Though it takes some time (a couple of years), there are opportunities to build a client base to start earning a full-time income. Time flexibility is great, though, as a 1099 contractor, you’ll only get out of it what you put into it. Great management, with strong and purposeful company vision and mission.

Working for Dixon Golf allows me to fundraise for multiple charities, while at the same time, traveling to different golf courses weekly! I am able to be outside, choose my own hours, network, and enjoy golf!
