My job became increasingly specialized and focused on numbers rather than results. If I had started the job that way, it would have been easier to take, but I had worked for years helping coworkers solve problems and then was told I needed to solve issues quickly and create more 'paper trail' out of their issues to demonstrate that we were getting more done. IT offices in other countries had long been doing that, taking one call and making multiple cases out of it to inflate the measured numbers.
