Good job to have as a secondary source of income but not something to rely on.

Indeed Featured review

Good job to have as a secondary source of income but you're technically a personal contractor so nothing really falls on them. App can be terrible at times and the interface is in dire need of an update.

Pros

Set your own schedule, driving, moderate pay

Cons

No quality control, app is mediocre, can send you to closed stores

Great freedom and decent pay depending on the area

I've been Doordashing full time since before the pandemic and it's been great for holding me over between careers. Simple structure, decent pay if you decline small orders. I love being an independent contractor because you are not forced to take bad paying orders. You can really work out a game plan and maximize your money

Pros

Free scheduling, easy work

Cons

Lack of community, slow times

Like the job, but don’t try to turn it into a career

It’s cool if u wanna make some good money with a decent amount of flexibility, but it’s not a job you should be working long term. The work starts to get really stressful the more time you put into it.

Pros

Flexibility, freedom, unlimited hours

Cons

No healthcare, terrible base pay

Easy workplace

Great for working on your own. Honest work and can make your own hours. Tips are great but sometimes can not be as great. You get what you put in. Very nice to have your own hours.

It's a contractor job, meaning you are technically not an employee.

What you get paid is what you are willing to work. It's very nice to technically be your own boss, make your own schedule, and not have anyone breathe down your neck, but that also comes with the downside of not getting any of the benefits that an actual employer would offer. It is also very area dependent. If you're in a large city, you're going to make bank. If you're in a small town, don't expect this to pay for anything.

Not terrible

Its not bad as long as people tip otherwise its not worth doing. During peak pay is normally when i choose to do it because you end up getting gas covered

Good if busy

When it's busy it's worth it but learning curve is tricky. You can go to work and be slammed and make money but it's normally only during breakfast lunch and dinner. So you have to work split hours during the day which can get frustrating.

Pros

Make own schedule

Cons

Not guaranteed business

flexible schedule

when working with doordash, you're able to create your own schedule, work whenever you want. You're able to stack money at your own pace and i find that very freeing not being tied down to work 40+ hours a week when you don't want to.

Pros

very flexible schedule

Cons

the wear and tear on your car to which you are not compensated for

DoorDash is fine easy money sometimes

You work when you want to and can make a good living from it. Sometimes customer don’t tip and you will notice the pay difference. Also it’s not always busy so be prepared to have slow days.

Pros

Fast pay

Cons

No tips

Not enjoyable

You get to be alone which is cool but you don't get paid well for deliveries. I met some other nice dashers while doing it and that was a plus. Long drives were rare.

Pros

Alone

Cons

Terrible pay

great side gig. could only be happier with more pay..

you're free to dash whenever you want, for as long as you want. whether it's just to get enough money for lunch or gas, dashing is easy and quick. $1 more per delivery base pay would be nice though.

Pros

flexible, easy, good potential earnings, lots of free time to do other things

Cons

"customers" and "dashers" looking for free food, bad/slow restaurant employees, adds miles to your vehicle

It’s ok

It’s okay. Prop 22 makes it worth doing but without the prop, I’m not sure. Now that they’re forced fo provide over minimum wage it’s pretty fun and easy. Though I wouldn’t rely on it for stability.

Fair pay for fair work. Good for problem solvers.

You get exactly out of it what you put into it. If you have the time, drive, and desire, you can pretty easily make the equivalent of $21/hour for driving all across an area you probably already know pretty well. The location of where you work is most important; some areas have more opportunities for money than others and knowing the area you are driving in well can make all the difference in the world. You are essentially completely on your own with near to no assistance all of the time, though, so you really need to be able to think on your feet and hustle to make the most of it. The job can be extremely stressful but if you value flexibility, its fair pay for fair work.

Pros

Extremely Flexible

Cons

High Stress

The pay sometimes is good other times it doesn't even cover gas

This is good if you need the extra money but not good if you're making it your only set of income there are days where you can make up to 150 or more but you have to put in a lot of hours to get it and there's days you can put in a lot of hours and not even cover your gas.

Good for a little extra cash

I worked doordash peak times to earn a little extra cash but I definitely don't think it could be a full-time job or even one that would pay the bills on a regular basis.

It’s only good if you’re lucky enough to have a good market and need money.

I worked for 3 years with DoorDash and am probably the best at what I do. I worked 8-10 hours a day making between $80-$150 per day. Since the tip skimming scandal back in 2019 they’ve changed their pay model for the worse. If a customer doesn’t tip, $3 is what you get offered no matter what the distance. There’s no room to grow with the company besides being a top dasher but that has its requirements that are hard to meet if you don’t want to take the $3 orders. Then there’s tax season. You have to pay into taxes and if you don’t have itemization and other deductions you’ll be paying a lot of money you may not have. On the other hand driving your own vehicle and making your own schedule is great but there’s a lot of slow times sitting in parking lots wasting gas because it’s either hot or cold outside. Then there’s the toll on your car. I bought my car in January 2020 with 6,600 miles on it and use it exclusively for work. As of today June 21st 2021 it has 47,636 miles on it. Your car will wear out fast(unless you have a diesel) with this job. So in conclusion, if you need some money on the side it’s good but full time, don’t do it.

Pros

Flexible schedule

Cons

Everything else

Kills your car, not worth it

It is good for college students or people that are out of work but it is unreliable and so so bas for your car to the point that it is not worth it. You get low orders all the time

Deceptive practices regarding pay.

They constantly will give you one price, than pay another. They penalize you for not accepting no-tip orders. The driver support is poor.I have been looking for something different for the last few months. Its not worth making a job out of this company. If you are looking for some more money without guarantee of pay, this is your company.

Pros

None

Cons

No benefits, poor support, deceptive pay practices.

It's a 1099 Independent Contractor scam and the owners should be strung up

Sign of the times. Drive your own car and work where you can make the most money. As far as this being called a "job", it's a terrible misnomer. You answer to a cellphone app.... PERIOD.Training? ZIP.Benefits? ZIP.Healthcare? ZIP.Over-scheduling drivers for "big" holidays...? YOU BETCHA!

Pros

Quit working whenever you want, lots of breaks.

Cons

Bogus runs to closed stores for already-delivered order, Support for drivers is off-shored somewhere in China or SE Asia, bunch of fast-talking script readers who don't listen

Expect to see your mechanic soon

It puts so many miles on your car day in and out that if you’re expecting this to be a full time job be careful. A lot of dasher’s also don’t know you have to claim your tips and pay in if you didn’t track mileage if you make over $600. Pretty decent pay for a part time gig although.

Pros

On own schedule

Cons

Car Wrecker, not busy sometimes, rude customers, customers lying about orders not arriving.

Work when you want

You can work when you want schedule yourself as many hours or shifts you want! You get paid by the delivery sometimes the delivery pay is little but the next one might be more it really depends if the customer pays you a tip and how big of tip! I recommend it for a secondary job tho because you really have to work at it if you wanna make bank! Like my ac went out of my vehicle so it was a little ruff in the 80 90 and 100 degree heat!

Pros

Work when you want

Cons

It’s a independent job so no bennifits
