It depends on what you like to do, your skills, and your financial situation. You cannot support a family, or even yourself, with this job. It is part time, and variable hours. Perfect for second income or retired. Work is mostly very easy and you can usually arrange schedule to suit your needs. Yes there are other companies that pay $12, but you will probably have to hit 4 - 6 stores a day and be expected to upsell the managers or even obtain display space for whatever you are representing. I know, because I've worked for several of them. These days most space tightly planned and few managers can or want to be bothered finding display space for you. Yes they will pay mileage, but they still do not pay for your drive from home to 1st stop, or your drive home. Work at the other companies can get pretty boring, week after week trying to upsell or get display space for one or another product. No thanks, not worth the $2 or the few cents for mileage. Driveline has pre sold projects, wide variety of projects and store managers who appreciate the service you give them.
For me it is because there are no nights or weekends and no selling. Some of these "merchandising" outfits really want low paid sales reps. I have service 4 accounts within 15 miles weekly and I pick up extra work farther away if I feel the job is worth the drive
All of my stores are within a 10 mile radius and they pay me $10 an hour, so it is worth it to me, because gas cost is kept to a minimum. If they started trying to get me to drive 30, 40, 50 miles? No way. I would quit without hesitation! And they WILL try to test you by asking you to go do a 2 hour job 35 miles away, politely tell them no and the reason why.
NOPE NOT WORTH IT! plenty of other merchandising companies will gladly pay you $12 an hour plus mileage.
